What customers say
Lovely, spacious site with great views near Barley & Pendle Hill. Friendly staff, fair prices, campfires allowed. Toilets/showers mostly clean but hot water for washing up and toilet upkeep can be hit-or-miss. Some found pitches uneven/hilly, or experienced noisy campers. Lack of on-site staff noted.

Lovely little site with lots of activities to entertain.
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked We liked how it's was an open plan field with no marked out plots.
The price was very reasonable and the staff were super friendly.
Really enjoyed that campfires are allowed.
Was only a short walk into town where there are two pubs and a childs park with lots of playground apparatus.
Disliked Not the fault of the site however we had a noisy group of polish campers who were drinking and singing with a guitar until 1 o'clock in the morning until I lost my temper and shouted at them!!

Too expensive for what it is
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked The toilets were clean, bins available and no litter around the site.
Disliked I’m a fan of basic camping - but for me to say there was 25 medium pitches on the field is wrong. The camp ground is on a hill, there are a few flatter (i.e. not flat) pitches but def not 25 of those.
To me, it doesn’t feel fit for purpose; it isn’t “value for money” - people could just turn up over a weekend and leave and no one would care / know. With no one on reception, no one answering text messages (I can’t use the phone to call) it isn’t a great service. I don’t think the facilities are cleaned at all on a weekend.
I wouldn’t opt to pay £20 a night to sleep on a windy hill, in an unmanned site, with no marked pitches and no lighting.

Site was clean and had brilliant facilities.
Gorgeous drive up to the camp site
Disliked It rained during our stay and our tent leaked. Nothing to do with the camp site. But we left a day early.

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked We stayed here twice and we have had different experiences.
The first weekend we stayed we really liked how quiet it was, the campsite definitely doesn’t feel like you are just fifteen minutes from burnley town centre!
It definitely felt safe and secure whilst we were there so we could let the kids run around and feel really relaxed.
It’s a bargain price at £20 a night
It genuinely felt like we got away and off the hamster wheel of our busy life.
Loved how you could get on the site nice and early as usually a lot of pitches don’t let you on until afternoon/late.
The second weekend -
Unfortunately with camping you will sometimes get a couple of bad neighbours however this group of three friends who turned up definitely didn’t “read the room” baring in mind we have three young kids, another tent had two young kids and another tent was a chilled couple with a dog.
The group of three brought a speaker out and started blasting music out, they were smoking w**d and generally being obnoxiously loud. Unfortunately there is no one patrolling or checking on any campers or what is going on in the field so this behaviour can continue.
There is no hot water in the washing up area. The toilet blocks were locked on the second weekend so there was only two toilets available on the second weekend which wasn’t the best of toilets or clean! Would we return? For me no. Which is really sad as we would have sung this site praises from high hill if we have had the same experience as the first time.

Great location, decent campsite
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Location, ample space to pitch tent, the fact there were facilities, clean too. Barley village nearby - good pub food.
Disliked Ghost town feel to the site: No staff on site, no instructions or clear signposting to facilities. Cars parked on grass next to pitches, despite rules on the contrary - with no staff on site to supervise or enforce.
