  • Wild 10-acre site on a farm on the outskirts of Blackpool
  • A 10-minute walk from a bus stop for central Blackpool
  • Wide range of farm animals to visit on site; firepits permitted
Do you have visions of yourself strolling the streets of Blackpool, settling on the beach for a picnic and trying all of the different amusements along the Central Pier? Or maybe it's a properly rural break that you've got in mind? Or perhaps… both? If that sounds promising, this base will surely get your attention: Whyndyke Farm is a 10-acre wild site on the outskirts of Blackpool, full of animals and lovely long grass. It’s easy to reach the town’s many attractions from this handy spot – and an impressive set this is indeed, as Blackpool is home to the likes of the Central Pier (lined with rides including a Ferris wheel), Blackpool Tower, Blackpool Zoo and the Blackpool Pleasure Beach theme park. The farm is a 10-minute walk from a bus stop with a route to central Blackpool. Otherwise, a 10-minute drive (or a bit longer if there's traffic) will do the trick. At this wild site, you’re welcome to set up wherever you like and then visit the wide range of animals on the farm (think pigs, cows, chickens and so on). The site's facilities are basic, including just clean toilets. However, it's a few minutes’ walk away from a petrol station with an ATM and a small shop. If you’re missing any campfire essentials, it's handy that a large supermarket is a 15-minute walk away. There’s also a carvery-style restaurant 15 minutes’ walk away should you want to tuck into a good filling meal one day.

What customers say

Basic, family-run farm camp with a welcoming vibe and ample space. Kids love the animals. Close to Blackpool, Tesco, and good value. Some portaloos and uneven ground noted, but friendly staff and chill atmosphere make it a solid, no-frills escape.

Liked I can’t say a bad thing about this camping spot it was fabulous, it had everything you need and great for the kids. Party bus for the kids was fab and plenty going on. Late night food of you get hungry and drinks also. The staff were all lovely and friendly, so helpful and accommodating. We will definitely be returning.

Disliked Only problem was the shower because there is only 1 so you have to try go maybe early in the morning or later on at night.

Liked The kids were asking to come back before we left!

Big open space, friendly/helpful/ accomadating staff.

We stayed for 3 nights and the kids loved every second of it. If we didn't leave the site I think they would have been happy to stay. The bus was easy and close to get to pop into Blackpool. (Tesco was just down the road but we didn't use it.) We loved the animals and space to run around and be kids. The party bus was such a hit we had to drag them away on a night and gave me a bit of a rest from the nagging and arguing, but that ment 2 happy easy to sleep kids. Unfortunately the Noodle bar wasn't open as our stay was mid week so we hope to go on a weekend to try what they have to offer.
The quad bikes were amazing they checked to see everyone was safe to ride (my 7year old was abit unsure/uneasy) but she came with me and loved it.

We will be returning and can't wait.

Liked Brilliant campsite, very family friendly. The kids really enjoyed seeing the pigs, playing on the party bus and quad bike riding. Shop on site has plenty to choose from including games for the kids to play on site. All the staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. You can hire fire pits and purchase logs. There’s a 10 min walk to the bus stop that takes you straight into Blackpool. You are close to a busy road but honestly after a few hours you barely notice it. We were lucky enough to spot a Heron and Owl during our stay.

Liked We are regular campers and used to a lot, but the campsite has the worst toilets I have encountered since Glastonbury some 15 years ago.
3 Porta loos, which didn’t get cleaned, nor emptied until our last of 4 nights. This caused a lot of noise at 9pm, when the farmer also chose to repave the area outside the toilets with his tractor, which is an odd time to be doing all this.
The setting sounds idyllic from the website, but it’s very close to some noisy main roads. Added are noisy vehicles driving up and down the campsite quite regularly.
This is not the sort of campsite people will be going back to.

Local attractions

This a fine, fine spot for Blackpool adventures. Search the 80 wax figures at Madame Tussauds Blackpool (10 minutes’ drive) for celebrities and musicians you recognise, then for a splendid old-fashioned evening out, catch an event at The Blackpool Tower Ballroom (15 minutes), a ballroom with a sprung dance floor at the foot of the town’s Victorian tower. Blackpool is home to the Sandcastle Waterpark (10 minutes), which has over 18 different slides of all shapes and sizes. At Lowlands Farm Alpacas (five minutes), go on a stroll with some of the good-looking alpacas. If you've got kids who need to let off steam, you may want to plan a visit to the Ascent Trampoline Park Blackpool (five minutes). Keen skateboarders can tackle the ramps at Ramp City Skatepark (five minutes). While there’s plenty to do in and around Blackpool, perhaps you’d like to branch out with some birdwatching at RSPB Fairhaven Lake Visitor Centre & Shop (15 minutes) or RSPB Hesketh Out Marsh (50 minutes) and hikes in the Forest of Bowland National Landscape (from 25 minutes).
