  • Luxury park in a country estate
  • Boat launching facilities and marina
  • On-site bar and restaurant, evening activities and outdoor cinema
You should wheel yourself to Fallbarrow Park with some immediacy, please. For there you'll find a luxury Lake District park in a country estate, set in private woodland of the spectacularly scenic sort and overlooking the eastern shores of Windermere and with pitches separated by hedges to give guests privacy. The trees and terraces of this a lakeside country estate park lead right down to the water, and if you're clever enough to have your own craft to bring, you can launch it from the site’s own boat launching facilities and marina. (If you're not, sadly, able to sort your own boat before arriving, it's but a short stroll to Windermere boat hire and days’ worth of sailing like Swallows and Amazons.) Although it’s only about half a mile from Bowness and swimmingly placed for all sorts of Lake District attractions, Fallbarrow Park has stacks to do on site in peak season by day and evening too: a multiplay area and fun and games at Pipsqueak's Mousehouse for pipsqueaks, outdoor cinema under the stars in the evening, and arts and crafts activities for adults by day followed by pub quizzes and competitions by night. On-site bar and restaurant The Boathouse is on hand for dinner and fine wine/fine beer: you should probably be found there quite often of an evening too… The park also has a smart and licensed Spanish deli with tapas and Spanish beer, and if you're going to be cooking your own teas (unlikely, in the circs), a well-stocked shop with essentials and fresh local produce is right on site.

Local attractions

What a perfectly placed park this is. You can roll along to pretty much any South Lakeland or Lake District sight you like from here by car, loads are to hand by foot, and natch there are fathoms’ worth of water all around to muck about on too. The beaut town of Bowness (on-Windermere) is the most-visited destination in Cumbria, halfway between the lake’s north and south ends and a short walk from Fallbarrow Park. If you’re getting out on the water, hire a motorboat or rowing boat from the Bowness marina to jet around Windermere or ask one of the many watersports companies in Bowness to help you learn/become more expert in windsurfing, sailing, kayaking or paddleboarding. In town, much browsing and more eating can be had at the pubs, restaurants and independent shops, and if you do have pipsqueaks along on your Lake District trip, a stop at the World of Beatrix Potter Centre will probably be called for. As Fallbarrow Park is open all year round, those who love the Lakes can see what South Lakeland and the Lake District has to offer in all seasons, from busy festivals and fairs in the summer to more solitary activities in winter, like wandering below snow-capped fells before a pint or two of Cumbria’s finest beers in a pub by a roaring fire.
