  • Family-run park a mile from Oulton Park Circuit
  • Set in the countryside with views over the Cheshire plains
  • Shop on site selling locally sourced bacon, eggs and sausages
If you're off to Oulton Park Circuit to see the fast cars, you might want a speedy return to base after a long day of envy. And you'll have it at Cheshire's Elm Cottage Touring Park, which is just a mile from the circuit as well as within easy reach of other popular pulls in the area like Chester, Delamere Forest, the north Wales coast, Snowdonia, the Peak District, Liverpool, Manchester… Elm Cottage is family owned and run, set in Cheshire countryside and surrounded by farming fields with a view across the Cheshire plains. It has an eco-friendly toilet block with free showers, constant hot water, underfloor heating, hairdryers and an easy access shower for family users or disabled guests. There's also a big exercise area for dogs and a play area, a large selection of tourist info at reception, and a shop on site selling locally sourced bacon, eggs and sausages plus basic grocery and non-food items as well as soft drinks and locally made ice cream. A popular pub serving good food and ales is a short distance from the site entrance and two pubs are in the local village of Little Budworth. If you fancy pizza, the Elm Cottage owners dish it up every Friday evening during the summer, freshly made in the site's new pizza oven.

The site is close to Oulton Park racing track. The site has good facilities and there is a spacious dog walking area.
Homemade pizzas 🍕 were made available on site on the Friday evening and pre-order was made by email prior to arrival!

Lovely well kept site.

Disliked: Could do with an extra hand wash facility directly next to chemical toilet disposal.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Clean and very well-maintained campsite. Toilet block is spotless and washing up facilities are excellent. Showers hot and powerful! Pizzas from the installed oven are excellent (not available every night)

Disliked: Minor road noise, and during the day you can hear the nearby motor circuit (not during sleeping hours though). Neither are bad enough to make a significant impact.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Absolutely spotless everywhere.. Showers were really powerful just perfect..
Pitches immaculately kept..
The site signage was again perfectly designed..
The dog walking perimeter was a delight to use as the grass was short and perfectly kept..
The little shop had everything you could need..
They gave an electric barrier which gave us no issues with our comings and goings..
Love this place.. this was our second time staying here and would recommend everyone to try it!!

Disliked: WiFi even though we payed for it wasn’t strong enough to stream.. which was the only disappointment..

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Everything! Friendly, helpful, welcoming staff, nicely laid out pitches, spotlessly clean and warm toilets and showers with plenty of hot water, excellent dog walk and great park for kids.

The location was ideal with a few nice pubs within walking distance, some lovely bridle path walks, The Hollies (pricey but lovely for a browse and very well stocked farm shop), a reclamation yard with some great finds.

We had great weather and the sunsets were stunning.

Disliked: So perfect it’s spoiled us for anywhere else.

Local attractions

The park is perfectly placed for days out and activities for all ages and tastes, whether you want city days out, tramps through woodland or historic houses. Oulton Park racing circuit is a mile away and has a programme of events throughout the year, while Little Budworth Country Park is walkable from the site. The nearby village of Tarporley has designer shopping, tearooms and swish restaurants. Bolesworth Castle and its many events including CarFest North and international horse shows is 10 miles from Elm Cottage Touring Park, and old and rather fab Chester is 12 miles west with decent park and ride facilities. Famed Chester Zoo is also within easy reach. Stargazers should shoot along to the Jodrell Bank Observatory and Discovery Centre 15 miles away at Macclesfield, an educational establishment with visitor centre, arboretum and the mammoth Lovell Telescope. Other excellent day trips are around in all directions, like active days out in Snowdonia National Park or around the Welsh coast, hiking the Peak District or city shopping and sightseeing in Liverpool and Manchester.
