The Badger and the Bear Outdoor Adventure Camp: Rental tents

General

  • Peaceful wild camping on a farm site in the Northumberland countryside
  • Half an hour’s drive from Northumberland National Park and the beach
  • Direct access to the St Oswalds Way Path; barbecues and campfires

Settle down in your preferred spot on the spacious wild camping site at The Badger and the Bear Outdoor Adventure camp, within half an hour's drive of Newcastle upon Tyne, the Northumberland National Park and the coastline at Creswell beach. Pitching up here puts you in a proper dark sky area, but it's still handily accessible from the A1 with a mere 10-minute drive…

Walk onto the lengthy St Oswalds Way Path from the site, trekking past farmlands, sandstone ridges and even sea views (depending on how far you’re willing to go). Northumberland National Park is half an hour's drive for more hilly trails and scenic views.

No matter where your feet take you, you’ll always return to the cosy confines back on site, where barbecues and campfires will help you unwind.

You’ll surely have stirred up an appetite, so if a barbecue isn’t on the menu, head to several pubs within 10 minutes’ drive and stock up on snacks for on the go from the local shops, also within 10 minutes’ drive.

Please note

If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.

Single-sex bookings of 6 or more people (excluding couples) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

This park has no on-site shower facilities.

No electric barbecues allowed.

No gas barbecues allowed.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the park are unlit.

Host was very welcoming and friendly. We had a disaster with our tent, and he happily lent us some tent pegs. Camping site was beautiful, with some great scenery. Plenty of wildlife to see too. Loved the 'wild' camping aspect, and felt nice and secluded but safe. Loved having the campfire on a night time. Lots of options for things to do just a short drive away or a walk if you're feeling adventurous. Would highly recommend and definitely worth the price. Hoping to stay again this year.

Stunning, quiet location - there's a maximum of three pitches in a lot of space! And more facilities than expected at a wild camp, too (our own chemical loo, a fire pit and picnic table). It's near St Oswald's walk and a great location for visiting Rothbury and Cragside, but the first night we were happy to just relax at the site round the fire. Nick, the owner, was really helpful and checked we were okay and had everything we needed. He's also on site virtually 24/7, so it's all secure.

    Disliked:

Nothing to dislike, really - if you like wild camping, you'll like the site! A bit windy... but that's just the weather in Northumberland.
