What customers say

Quiet, adults-only spot with lovely forest views. Toilets/showers are "the best". Pitches are good for walking/biking. Watch out for midges & spotty signal.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Everything was perfect! Great location, small site - only seven pitches. New toilet/shower/laundry block was lovely… and warm.

Disliked NO water anywhere on site on Sunday! Another camper had, apparently, reported it to the owner but none of us saw anyone… eventually we just had to leave as there wasn’t any information if/when the water was going to come back on.
No staff to greet you on arrival, nor saw anyone during our stay… pretty much self-service!

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Small, friendly,. Really nice showers and facility block. Away from everything. Amazing views. Dark skies (take a torch) No wifi, phone or TV signal 👍

Disliked Not fully serviced - no waste drainage on pitch.
Site wifi range is very limited (also an advantage) and access to an occasional weather forecast would have been helpful without having to dress for the weather and get to the top of the site (works both positive and negative tbh)

Local attractions

Given how close it is, your first visit should be to Kielder Castle, just under a mile away. It's got a variety of exhibits about the area’s history and wildlife, a lovely café and a bird hide where you can look out for the resident ospreys. Bikes can be hired here, or you can head out on a scenic drive along the toll road. There are plenty of options nearby for walks, of course – and one of the best is the Lakeside Way, an accessible multi-user trail that runs all the way along the 26-mile shoreline of Kielder Water (10 minutes’ drive). Look out for native red squirrels as you go – Kielder is home to about half of the country's population – or head to the Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre (15 minutes) to see other local wildlife. If you're into mountain biking, you may like to cross the Scottish border to 7 Stanes - Newcastleton (25 minutes); if it’s history that’s more your thing, try heading to Hadrian's Wall to explore places like the Temple of Mithras (45 minutes) and Housesteads Roman Fort (50 minutes).
