‘If you build it, they will come’ goes the line from the 1989 movie Field of Dreams. With that in mind, the owners of Field of Dreams have indeed built it – and now you can come to this quiet Suffolk spot. This adults-only site has been set up with tourers in mind (and their dogs, who are most welcome to come along for the ride as long as they're kept on a lead). It’s a relaxed and peaceful place with views over farmland where you may well spot local wildlife like deer, hares and marsh harriers passing by. On a clear day, you can see all the way to the water tower at Caister, about 12 miles away. In setting up their site, the owners have planted 60 trees and around a thousand hedge plants, all of which contribute to the relaxed rural atmosphere here. There’s also a pond on site where you might be able to spot more wildlife, and a well-kept grass area for chilling out or walking the dog. Pitches have been well designed here, with individual electric points and freshwater taps, and the place is kept nicely secure with CCTV and a code-operated entrance gate. The village of Tofts Monk (and its thriving pub) is about a mile away, as is a busy farm shop. There are also plenty of circular walking and bike trails to follow from the site.

  • The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).
  • Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.
  • Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
  • A cable measuring at least 25 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.
  • Units longer than 9 metres are not allowed.
  • Units heavier than 7500 kg are not allowed.
  • Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.
  • Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

Liked Wonderful small campsite. Pitches a good size with water and electric.
We had a lovely peaceful couple of nights staying here.
Great information provided prior to arrival and the shower/toilet facilities were excellent given that it is a small site - all very organised.
Lovely views and we were able to cycle into Beccles which is not far away.
We would definitely return and recommend this site to anyone wishing to visit the area.

Liked It was lovely and quiet and the facilities were really clean and spacious. Would be very happy to recommend a stay here. Would like to have a washing up area but wasn’t an issue not having it.

Liked It was a quiet location, ideal if you want it, bird scare going off in morning but did not bother us, nice pub in village turn left, and you must try the ravenous cafe turn right nice walk

Route directions

Do not follow sat nav for final approach, due to gate configuration. Approach the site only from the A143/Toft Monks. In Toft Monks, take the turning for Maypole Green onto Pound Lane. Follow this road down past the church on the left, past some farm buildings on the right. As the road drops down, you will see houses on the left. The site entrance is the shingle driveway just past these houses on the right hand side, through the electric operated five bar gate.

Local attractions

Beccles (10 minutes' drive) is a good place to start your Norfolk exploration – the town has a lido and a couple of good markets, and you can hire canoes, kayaks and paddleboards to navigate your way along the Waveney river. Heading further into the Broads National Park, places like Oulton Broad (20 minutes) and Ranworth Broad (40 minutes) are popular destinations, and there are plenty of boat trips around to choose from. For some different scenery, head to the coast for classic seaside amusements in Great Yarmouth (20 minutes) or the indie shops, restored pier and Adnams brewery in Southwold (35 minutes). Norwich (35 minutes) is another good choice, with a castle, cathedral and a maze of cobbled streets to wander through. Other top picks to visit nearby include the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum, and the ‘secret Suffolk jungle’ of Henstead Exotic Gardens (open on Sundays only). Both are about 20 minutes' drive away.
