Wonderful Worcestershire walks followed by a comfy night in a well-equipped safari tent – that’s the winning combo that can be had at Lindridge Glamping, a spacious rural site 10 minutes’ drive from Tenbury Wells. Boots or bikes at the ready – there’s easy access to miles of path in the site’s surrounds, or a little further afield in the Malvern Hills or Shropshire Hills. Thrill-seekers can get their kicks on mountain bike trails or the ziplines at Wyre Forest, while those looking for something a little more leisurely can take a steam train ride or potter around nearby National Trust estates. And at the end of the day, there are excellent feasts to be had 25 minutes away in Ludlow or a couple of miles away at the local pub. If you prefer to grill your own grub, you’ll be chuffed to note that barbecues are allowed (and there’s heaps of space for the nippers to run about in while you get it going). A tennis court is on site for those who fancy bashing a ball about, and there are some super post-prandial walks to be had around the park’s orchards and through its lovely avenue of lime trees.

Local attractions

If you like a good feed, make your way to Ludlow, 25 minutes away – the market town has developed something of a rep for its restaurants, independent shops and food festivals. In between bites to eat, pay a visit to the town’s museum and castle, or stray a little further away to its racecourse or to Stokesay Castle. Keeping it more rural, head for the fab mountain bike trail (and bike hire) and Go Ape! adventure course 15 minutes away at Wyre Forest, riding lessons 20 minutes away at Tipton Hall or scenic rides on the Severn Valley Light Railway, half an hour away. Tiddlers may well also like to meet the farm beasts at Ray's Farm (25 minutes away) or go for a walk with one of the Temevale Alpacas (five minutes away). Those with an eye for a fine building and/or garden may like to make their way to the National Trust’s Croft Castle or Berrington Hall or wander around Stockton Bury Gardens – all are around half an hour away by car.
