  • Friendly adults-only site at the foot of the Malvern Hills
  • Access to Castlemorton Common and 35 minutes’ walk from Little Malvern
  • Barbecues permitted on site; walk to four country pubs
Keen to get away to the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? Looking for a break where your dog can get involved with the hill walking? A peaceful spot within walking distance of multiple cosy country pubs? Marlbrook Farm is here to get things started… The family-run, adults-only site based on a working horse livery yard is in the Malvern Hills AONB with direct access to Castlemorton Common and a 10-minute drive from the Three Counties Showground. Don your hiking boots and head for the common or the hills – the site is just 35 minutes’ walk from Little Malvern and under 10 minutes’ drive from British Camp Hill Fort. Those of you who’d rather mount your bicycle and get pedalling can set your sights on historic Ledbury (15 minutes’ drive or 45 minutes’ cycle) and the peaceful riverside in Upton upon Severn (25 minutes’ drive or cycle) too. Hill walking and cycling aside, those wishing to tip back a few local ales and indulge in some country pub grub will be pleased to find four such establishments within walking distance. The closest is just 15 minutes’ walk away and the remainder are 25 minutes’ walk or 35 minutes’ walk away – so judge your favourite for yourselves. If barbecues with stunning views are high on your priorities too, good news. They're permitted on site, and there’s a village shop 10 minutes’ walk away to simplify sourcing ingredients. Facilities on this peaceful independent site include one shower and two toilets located a short walk away from the pitches (passing by the horse stables) and a chemical disposal point.

Non-electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Very quiet and peaceful setting - ordered pitches

Disliked: Only slight phone signal (no WiFi) - and no one to greet us on arrival - several attempts to get through to Catherine (owner) who eventually allocated us a pitch that was already occupied. Eventually disturbed a horse riding lesson and the instructor pointed us in the right direction for help but a good 30 mins had passed by this point and we had the same opinion from other disgruntled campers. 2 toilets (1 in a shower room) - you need to walk through a working stables to get here - the campsite seems to be a side business to the equestrian side. The pitch itself and views were good. A lot of money for this basic campsite.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: The location!

Disliked: Not much really.

We were told the Wifi wasn't working after we had paid.

I tried contacting Catherine by phone and email but she replied to none. When on site we bumped into other campers who struggled to make contact with her too.

The site is basic if not scruffy, the shower and toilet was dirty and unattended.

A disappointing experience.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: We stayed in the South field which only had six pitches. There was plenty of space and the pitches were quite flat.
Walking out the gate led straight onto the common, which was great for walking the dog.
The Malvern hills were only a short walk away and there were lots of footpaths, enabling us to walk without being near the busy roads a lot of the time. We had downloaded the OS map before we went and that was really useful.
The Marlbank Inn was a 15 minute walk along a footpath (further if you walked along the road). They serve Indian style bar snacks and food. We had bhajis and samosas for lunch and they were lovely.

Disliked: The phone signal and WiFi were patchy in the area so it was lucky we had downloaded the OS map at home.
The toilet and shower was not great, but I think most people use their own.

Non-electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: The area and site was lovely and chilled, a really peaceful area, a pony arena on site where training and lessons take place, lovely to watch.. and the site is right on Castlemorton Common so some lovely walks around.. walked up British Camp and the Malvern Hills from the site, no reception which is actually a nice thing as you get your pitch number via email and can just head on in without having to queue, no wifi and very limited signal for the time we were there but we class that as a nice break from the world 👍

Disliked: Shower/toilet facilities not great but the reviews tell you this so don’t go expecting a top notch loo, they are at the back of a barn in the yard so you’ll need to walk past horses and working yard staff to get to them, toilet and shower all in one so we used our own facilities as felt they were cleaner/didn’t have to queue, would have hoped for a cheaper price per night based on this but we didn’t really mind as everything else was lovely

Local attractions

From the site, walk straight out onto Castlemorton Common. From there, it'll take you around an hour to walk to the top of the Malvern Hills without even crossing a road. On the edge of Welland, the site is also within walking distance of the annual Welland Steam & Country Rally event. There are many more festivals in Upton upon Severn (25 minutes’ drive) For a peek into the past, try Little Malvern Priory (35 minutes' walk) or Eastnor Castle (10 minutes' drive). The latter has a deer park, arboretum and a grand castle with turrets overlooking the lake. Gawp at the state rooms in the castle or try and work your way out of the garden maze. If you’re looking to switch things up, you might want to roll down to the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (25 minutes) for yet more wanders or watersports on the River Wye.
