  • A small family-owned glamping site overlooking the Grand Union Canal
  • Half an hour’s drive to Warwick Castle, and an hour to Cadbury World
  • High-spec pods with kitchens and firepits; shops five minutes’ drive
In a glorious setting overlooking the Grand Union Canal and all the boating action at Nelson’s Wharf, the Podtastic glamping units sit on a 40-acre private estate in the Warwickshire countryside. The pretty half-timbered market town of Southam is just 10 minutes’ drive away, and many of the sights and attractions of Central England are all within reach for family day trips. Each high-spec pod has sleeping space for up to four in double and sofa beds – just right for a family with one or two kids. Older children can also bring their own tents and camp right outside to provide extra space (and a bit of adventure for them…). Other high-spec facilities include central heating to keep everybody nice and warm, a shower room, a mini kitchen and a dedicated dining area. Outdoors there’s a seating area with disposable barbecue stands and a firepit for alfresco dining – and if you fancy a change of scenery, stroll along the canal towpath for half an hour to the village of Stockton (five minutes’ drive) to a canalside pub or Chinese takeaway. Active glampers can soon be out and about exploring, with gentle walks along the towpath for families and quiet canalside cycle routes – in fact bikers can jump into the saddle and head right to Royal Leamington Spa (45 minutes) or Warwick (an hour and a quarter) with very little road work required.

Camping pod

Liked: Great quality pods. Warm, cosy and quiet despite the wind and rain. Children's play area safe and well constructed. Lovely views along the canal. Short walk to a great waterside pub.

Camping pod

Liked: The owners were very helpful , including meeting us at the entrance to guide us to the site as they had just finished a nice new tarmac driveway from the main road down to the Pods Everything we needed was in the Pod which is very well equipped & cosy even with the cold & frost outside when we stayed . Also SSSI sites near by + wildlife / birdwatching , peaceful by the canal .

Camping pod

Liked: This pod was a bit of a treat for our family and it did not disappoint. It was snug, warm and had everything you could think you’d ever need, including a garlic crusher! The outside space is fabulous for if you have friends in the other pods, and the children’s park was great for keeping them busy. Definitely somewhere we might return if we’re in the area.

Camping pod

Liked: Had a fantastic stay at Podtastic. So peaceful & relaxing right on the canal so you can watch the boats go past, with beautiful walks right on a nature trail where you can spot lots of wildlife. And pubs nearby serving great food, which is always a bonus. The pods are to a high standard with everything you need for your stay. Izzie and her son who run the pods are very friendly & accommodating. Couldn’t be more helpful. Thanks for a great weekend

Camping pod

Liked: This place is amazing! Great hospitality and communication from the owners/hosts throughout. It is family run and it really shows. The pods are brand spanking new and fully kitted out for almost any cooking situation. All the stuff you'd expect is there, good quality and conveniently fits into the compact kitchen area. I was particularly impressed with the complementary fire wood for bbq/fires. The pod itself is in a quiet spot with canal boats passing by, a nice canalpath walk/cycle to some lovely pubs too. There is also Draycott water about 4m away. Tom, Izzie and family, keep up the great work and I look forward to returning soon.

Local attractions

Big-hitting attractions for holidaying families include Cadbury World, where kids can go on a 4D chocolatey adventure and get to have a try at making chocolate themselves. For a full day of activities, Drayton Manor Theme Park (both an hour's drive) has Viking-themed rides, a waterpark, crazy golf and keeper talks at the zoo. The major attraction in historic Warwick (half an hour) is undoubtedly its medieval castle, where families can get lost in the maze, explore the tower and ramparts, tour the state rooms and watch knights jousting. Another entertaining draw for families is the National Space Centre (55 minutes), with its planetarium and immersive space-themed movies, or you can see endangered leopards and visit Gruffalo Discovery Land at Twycross Zoo (an hour). If you’re keen for the family to ingest a bit of culture along the way, try Stratford-upon-Avon (40 minutes), the home of performances at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and guided tours of Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Shakespeare’s Birthplace. For days when the weather isn’t playing fair, treat the kids to tenpin bowling and a jump-around on trampolines at Royal Leamington Spa (20 minutes).
