The meadow

  • Back to basics rural site in a peaceful Warwickshire meadow
  • Birmingham, Tamworth and Drayton Manor within half an hour's drive
  • A few minutes' walk from a farm shop
Set in a stunning meadow, Nightingales Rustic Camping is a back to basics site in Warwickshire with plenty of room between pitches and well-maintained communal toilet and shower facilities. There are designated spots where you can light up a fire as well (it doesn't get much more atmospheric than sitting together around flickering flames as the setting sun streams over the meadow…). Nightingales Rustic Camping is a few minutes' walk away from a farm shop where you can pick up a whole host of top-quality produce, and it's about a 10-minute drive to nearby Atherstone and its many amenities, which include a railway station, supermarket, restaurants and a leisure centre. Although this site is pleasingly rural in atmosphere, Nightingales Rustic Camping is in a very convenient location – Birmingham city centre, Drayton Manor Theme Park and the market town of Tamworth can all be reached by road in under half an hour.

What customers say

Spacious, rural site with a lekker, chilled vibe. Guests love picking their own spot, having bonfires and the amazing country views. The farm shop's a winner! Basic but generally okay facilities, though some reckon they need a spruce-up. Has quiet zones and livelier spots.

To clean and They need more. Honestly the council should shut them down as is does not seem sanitary to me.

Field stay non-electric grass and earth touring pitch (large)

Liked Lovely friendly owner. Lots of space to choose a pitch.

Disliked I love a rustic no frills campsite but it was a bit of a party vibe. Lots of barking sketchy looking dogs and music.

From the manager: Sorry to hear you didn't have the best stay. We can't really inspect dogs on arrival for behaviour, but we do our best to accommodate different areas - a family field, a relaxed field, and a social field - so guests can choose the atmosphere that suits them best. might be best to try the relaxing field next time, it could suit you better.

Amazing site. Couldn’t recommend enough. Worth every penny.

Field stay non-electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch (large)

Liked Great stay, perfect for me and my group of friends. Couldn’t say enough about the helpfulness of the staff, phone line is always active and Charlotte was amazing. Facilities are kept clean and although you may need to brave a cold shower if someone’s used all the hot water before you - still refreshing and kept very clean! More amenities than you could ask for at such a brilliant price. The farm shop was also an outstanding highlight - only wish it were open for the entire stay! Loads of space between pitches, felt really private and accommodated. Portaloos near pitches cleaned super often and kept stocked with soap/ toilet roll which was also great. Couldn’t recommend the site enough.

Disliked Only wish the shop were open more!

Liked Lots of space.

Disliked So many flies!!!! Facilities were grim, dirty and ice cold showers.

From the manager: Mike we're very surprised by your comments. During your stay our 5 family members were regular checking the facilities, and Charlotte personally asked you if everything was okay - to which you replied " yes great thanks" . At no point were any issues raised with us.

We take complaints seriously, but its difficult to address concerns after the fact when nothing was mentioned at the time. The majority of our guests tell us they enjoy the space, the FREE facilities and the relaxed atmosphere, and we'll continue working hard to make sure it stays that way.

The Meadow non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked No traffic noise (apart from air traffic from the airport)
Wide open fields with views.
Helpful and friendly staff on arrival
Separate fields, ie a field for people with kids, one for people who like to socialise and one for people who want peace and quiet. It was so quiet on the quiet field. Never saw or heard the other campers (we are far apart from each other). Every once in a while, could just about faintly hear a kid playing. Bliss

Disliked Nothing

Local attractions

There are heaps of options near Nightingales Rustic Camping for busy bees who want to stick to the local area. For a restorative round of the green, take yourself down to Atherstone Golf Club (10 minutes' drive); tiddlers who find the games there rather slow-paced for their liking can be taken to the town's swimming pool (10 minutes) instead. Also close by are Kingsbury Water Park (15 minutes) and Hartshill Hayes Country Park (15 minutes), where there are birds to spot, picnics to be had and a load of nature to take in. More outdoor jaunts can be had at Tamworth Castle (25 minutes), a fearsome Norman fortress overlooking the bustling market town. And don't feel that you have to eschew indoor times just because you're sleeping in the open air – the slopes of SnowDome indoor ski centre (25 minutes) and fab aquatic displays at the National Sea Life Centre (30 minutes) are not to be missed. Kids been on their best behaviour, or need an incentive to keep them that way? The promise of a trip to Drayton Manor Theme Park (25 minutes) should do the job.
