Canal boats in the marina

  • Peaceful 20-acre marina location in the Staffordshire countryside
  • A 10-minute drive to Lichfield; 20 minutes to Drayton Manor Theme Park
  • Barbecues and picnic tables provided; short walk to a dog-friendly pub
Whether it’s picnics looking out over the marina or lazy mornings walking along the Coventry Canal, there’s plenty of scope for peaceful activities at Kings Orchard Marina in the middle of the Staffordshire countryside. This is a pretty marina location with 20 acres of space, all landscaped and maintained to a high standard, with a marina basin for views and a canal, narrowboat hire and local pub 10 minutes’ walk away. For any keen explorers, the icing on the cake might be that historic Lichfield is 10 minutes’ drive to the west. That means you can explore the medieval city’s 12th-century cathedral, market square and the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum by day before heading back in the evening to use the site’s food prep area to build a barbecue spread on the grills provided. Handily, there's a food shop under five minutes' drive away. The free-to-use barbecues and picnic tables dotted around the site are useful facilities for those quality times. As for features of convenience, Kings Orchard Marina also has toilets, showers, waste disposal and an Elsan unit. With the Staffordshire countryside on all sides, walk to your heart’s content, but don’t forget that real ales, traditional pub fare and a beer garden await at the local dog-friendly country pub alongside the Coventry Canal. This place, 10 minutes’ walk away, is a good spot for those of you who have brought dogs on your holiday.

What customers say

Kings Orchard Marina is lauded for its helpful staff, tranquil vibe, and prime spot by a marina with canal walks and a local pub. Pitches are good-sized, level, and clean, with decent amenities. The main drawback is the very potholed access road. Some find facilities a bit dated, and occasional noise and bins are issues. Management is aware of road problems and is working on it, also addressing behaviour with a code of conduct.

Non-electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Stayed on a camper hard standing pitch. Nice site, facilities were excellent, staff friendly. We arrived late but everything was sorted in a lock box. The pub down the road / or canal was really nice, food looked fab and they had a singer.

Disliked Nothing.

Non-electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Lovely, quiet site in a beautiful setting

Disliked A few have mentioned the pot holes in the road but were straightforward to navigate round - and you wouldn’t be going that quickly down the lane
Was in an unserviced pitch which was nice, but unnumbered- and 2 hours after arriving I was asked to move as was in the wrong pitch (2 of the pitches apparently don’t count but I’m not sure how I was expected to know this 🤷‍♀️)
Not a big deal but a little unsettling and felt bad about it - numbering the pitches would be an easy solution to avoid any issues…

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked A really lovely site and location, the marina and surrounding area is so well kept, friendly staff with lovely clean toilets and warm showers, would definitely visit again.
The Plough up the tow path is great, lovely atmosphere and great food too.

Disliked I guess this has nothing to do with the site owners but be aware…. Fair few pot holes on the drive up to the site

Liked Friendly staff and handy for the NEC.

Disliked The private road leading up to the marina is riddled with pot holes. Needs urgent attention as there is a serious risk of damaging your van.

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked The staff were helpful and friendly and left a shower room open for us as we arrived after five. The place is quite easy to find in daylight. The pitches are a good size and well identified. Each stand had hook up and water. Shower room warm and clean. The nearby pub 'The Plough' is excellent.

Disliked The approach road has the most numerous and some of the worst potholes I have seen and when the rain fills them they are harder to see, so drive very carefully if you arrive in rain. Would put me off attending again. The shop doesn't sell milk.
