  • Adults-only site steps from the Shropshire Union Canal
  • Alderford Lake five minutes' drive; Market Drayton 25 minutes
  • Canalside for dog walks; on-site fishing and a café
If you had thoughts on an ideal setting for a hol between England and Wales, Hadley Park might well be it. It's in the Shropshire countryside on the border with Wales, next to the Shropshire Union Canal, and a handsomely scenic walk from Whitchurch, Shropshire's oldest market town. Hadley Park is a family-owned and run site that's set up for adults only. It has a small pond where guests can fish – for free; a big sundeck overlooking the pond, and a fully licensed on-site café serving fresh local produce. You can also have your hair smartened up in the Hadley Park salon: just enquire when booking using the details in your booking confirmation email. Amenities include a launderette and a washing-up area; there's also a chemical disposal point, and a modern well-kept toilet and shower block with disabled facilities. The park is adults-only and welcomes well-behaved dogs. A service station with fast food and coffee outlet is 400 yards away.

What customers say

Tranquil adult-only spot by the canal, near Whitchurch. Spotless, modern facilities a plus. Cafe, friendly staff & grounds well-kept with fishing & dog areas. Some minor road noise & pitch upkeep noted, but most keen to revisit.

Pool view non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Pool view pitch, arrived after cafe closed but was able to pick own spot. Had a level pitch. Shower and toilet facilities modern, clean and hot. Great walks from site. Cafe served great breakfast.

Disliked Pitches need to be more clearly marked as people were pitching up very close to others. Day we left there were 6 vans in 7 spaces.

The Little Barn camping pod

Liked Stayed in the Barn, which was delightful. Everything we needed. Excellent toilet and shower facilities. Fishing was great. Big carp. Canal just behind us and lots of lovely towns and pubs a short drive away.

Disliked Some road traffic noise during the day, but tolerable and quiet at night.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Liked the location next to the canal. Good sized pitches. Cafe on site was excellent. Very clean facilities. The walk along the canal into Whitchurch is lovely

Disliked The showers could do with benches to sit on while getting dressed/undressed and also some shelving to put shower gel ect on. Some of the seasonal pitches looked a bit shabby some of the caravans were green and didn't seem to be looked after which is a shame because it is a beautifully located site. Saying all that I understand that it has new owners who hopefully will tackle some of the issues

Pool view non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Been here a few times now, always a peaceful and relaxing stay. Actually ventured out and visited Ellesmere and Whitchurch itself. Both closer than you think and had plenty to do in order to fill 2 days of exploring.
More dogs on site this time and all well behaved and respectful of pitch boundaries.
Cafe always spotless and great quality food, worth popping in for breakfast or lunch.

Local attractions

Staying close to home from Hadley Park, the old Shropshire town of Whitchurch is less than a mile away, and the walks of the Sandstone Trail as well as the hacks of the Bishop Bennet Way are easily accessible via the Shropshire and Union Canal on site. Elsewhere, several famed Shropshire and Cheshire sights are within 20 miles of the park, like Chester Cathedral and the city's Roman ruins and amphitheatre; Chester Zoo and Chester Racecourse; the fab follies of Hawkestone Park, and the llamas, alpacas and 50 acres of greenery of Cholmondeley Castle Gardens. Nearby Shrewsbury is famed for its annual flower show and for its Darwin Trail commemorating the life and work of evolution dude Charles Darwin who was born in the town. More modernly, a good range of plays are held at the new Severn Theatre and several riverside pubs and restaurants are around at which to while the night away. The bars, cafés and independent shops of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Llangollen are within driving distance: other top town picks are a picnic in Riverside Park, a stroll along Victoria Promenade, and a steam straight ahead on the Llangollen Railway.
