  • Adults-only glamping pod 10 minutes’ stroll from Belton in Rutland

  • Dog-friendly accommodation with a securely fenced outdoor space
Looking for a luxury retreat that is both adults-only and dog-friendly? Sounds like Rutland Rural Retreats, a camping pod tucked into a meadow (with other glamping units) 10 minutes’ stroll from the pretty conservation village of Belton in Rutland in England’s smallest county of Rutland. Just over 300 metres from the A47, a fairly busy road, it has easy access to local towns and cities. The swish little pod is fully equipped with a kitchenette, a living and dining space and an ensuite with an electric shower. Thoughtful touches include complimentary tea and coffee, shower gel and an electric fan to keep you cool on hotter days. Your outside space also has its own picnic table, so you can dine under the stars and enjoy a glass of something chilled while rustling up supper on the barbecue. On chillier days, relax in the pod’s heated interior, or slope off to one of the pubs within 10 minutes’ drive. As this is very much a canine-loving place, a dog mat, bowl, toys and a drying-off mitt are supplied to tend to your dogs, along with some doggy treats. The pod also has a garden with a one-metre-high fence with stocks and rails to ensure that your pet is safe and secure. And as this is a canine-loving sort of place, a dog mat, poo bag, bowls, toys, tipi and a drying-off mitt are supplied to tend to your dogs, along with some doggy treats. The pod also has a 1m high stock and rail fenced garden to ensure that your pet is safe and secure. Access to the meadow is via a track to the car park, and then a short stroll with your luggage over a bridge. Horses and cute Valais Blacknose sheep graze in adjacent fields so keep dogs on a lead until you reach your pod. Please do not feed the animals – even carrots and apples can kill.

Bumblebee 1 bedroom camping pod

Liked: Beautiful quiet location far away from people. There was another pod that we could we see from ours but there was no one there. Took two dogs who loved the freedom of running around the fenced yard. The pod itself had everything we needed for us and the dogs. Everything was thougth about. We will be going back in the future.

Disliked: You can hear a busy road in the background. There was very little shade throughout most of the day, had to spend a fair amount of time sat in doors to keep the dogs cool. On the other hand the ground was quite muddy, which meant a lot of regular cleaning. I would recommend bringing a couple extra towels if it has been raining. But none of those can be controlled by the owners.

From the manager: Thank you for your kind words despite the horrendous weather we’ve had to date which as you mention, meant our meadows are soggy than they would be normally l. A huge thank you also for leaving the pod so clean and tidy 💗 Hoping you found the doggy tipee on the decking which provides ideal shade for the pooches on those sunny days and the fan in the pods for those warm balmy evenings 💗 our sister pod, across the meadow and beyond the hazel hurdles and hedging also has over hanging branches for additional poo h shade if you fancy a return visit 🥰 Although we are set off the beaten track in a private 4 acre meadow, we are accessible a short distance from the A47 up into the village. If the wind blows in a certain direction, you can sometimes hear road noise but not all the time. Thank for mentioning because. It’s early days for us here so all feedback helps us to make the experience as magical as possible for future guests.
