Lake on site
Grass pitch with water and electricity
One of the spacious hardstanding pitches with water, waste and electricity

  • Small and serene family-run site with scenic fishing lakes
  • A 10-minute drive from Retford and 15 minutes from Worksop
  • Play area, wifi, shop and café; angling and barbecues permitted
Tote your caravan along to the small and secluded family-run site at Torworth Lakes and settle down at a spacious pitch overlooking a selection of lush fishing lakes. Another plus for this park? The location. Close to some of Nottinghamshire’s most-visited attractions, it’s a fab base for touring National Trust sites, historic market towns and kids’ adventure centres. Have a chat with the team about the main spots to visit – the staff here have all sorts of smashing suggestions up their sleeves. You could also ask them about places to eat, but don’t be surprised if they recommend the on-site café, which serves up mouth-watering grub including breakfasts and cakes. There’s also a well-stocked farm shop for grabbing ingredients – think artisan bread, in-season fruit and veg, and locally sourced meat – particularly handy if you’ll be making the most of the fact barbecues are allowed. Fishing is also permitted at this park, so anglers can sit down at purpose-built pegs and have a go at reeling in a variety of carp such as tench, barbel, koi, rudd, roach and orfe. Catch one of the biggest specimens and an award comes in the form of an edible treat. All sorts of caravanning preferences are catered for at this park as a handful of the pitches are enclosed hardstanding options with electric hook-ups, water and waste, while a further few are on grass with electricity and water. Kids have a playground to check out, and wifi is available as well. Please note there's only one toilet and shower on site, so bear this in mind when booking.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Lovely peaceful and quiet site. With eland water nearby. Security gates in and out. So felt safe. Downside is only 1 toilet and 1 shower that runs mostly cold. But we do have all these amenities on board so not such an issue, however they are kept clean and tidy. Plenty of space to play ball and frisbee with our 4 year old grandson

Disliked Could do with hooks in toilet to hang your clothes. If going to the loo before a shower. Shower needs warmer water!

Lovely peaceful place to stay. Beautiful views, little walk around the lakes…

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Lovely peaceful place to stay. Beautiful views, little walk around the lakes with dogs.

Disliked Needs to be a no ball games around camping pitches.
Google maps wants to take you down a very narrow rd just up and across from the lakes with the postcode.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked This will always be one of our favourite local campsites! We always have the best weekends here. The fishing, the iced coffees, the relaxed family vibes, the space for the kids to explore and play, the friendliness of the staff, the sectioned of pitches. We love it and we will 100% be booking again.

Disliked Nothing. We love it here!

Ruined by a lack of respect and consideration.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Site itself is lovely. Well kept and shower and toilet relatively clean. However...

Disliked We’ve had lovely visits here in the past, which makes this experience all the more disappointing. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but after speaking to the team in person, sending three Facebook messages, and two emails, all of which were ignored over the course of three weeks, I felt I had no choice.

The day before our arrival, we received the usual text with site and pitch details, along with a note that the café would be closing early at 12 noon due to a private party. That didn’t seem like an issue, until we realised the party involved extremely loud, outdoor music played directly toward the caravan park from early afternoon until nearly 1am.

There were multiple large speakers and even a live saxophonist playing over the music well into the night. Our pitch was directly opposite, and unfortunately, our three young children couldn’t get to sleep at all. It made for an exhausting and unpleasant following day. I understand that events sometimes come with music, but there was no clear warning about the extent of this party. Had we been told in advance, we could have changed our plans.

The noise far exceeded the site's own quiet hours (which we understood to be around 10pm), and it showed a real lack of consideration for the other guests. One couple who had just arrived even packed up and left early because of the disturbance.

It’s a real shame, because we’ve stayed here multiple times and even recommended it to friends and family. Unfortunately, after being ignored and left without so much as an apology, we won’t be returning.

Gorgeous site but we are disappointed by our experience.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked The site is beautiful, the pitches are spacious and well laid out. The ponds are easily accessible and the location is idyllic.
Water points on each pitch is a bonus and there’s lots of room to manoeuvre around the site. The pitches are separated by privacy hedges and the entrance is well defined from the roadside with wide entryway and signposts round to the pitches.

Disliked We had not realised there was an extra charge for fishing, which was no problem but the gentleman who came to check was extremely rude and aggressive, my husband immediately went to pay and found the man complaining loudly about him in the middle of the shop. The same man also told off another child in our party for standing next to a peg rather than inside it (was fishing with her father) and for not using a landing net for a tiny roach (less than 100g!)

The shop is advertised as being open until 3.30. At 2pm we took all the children for an icecream. 5 members of staff were working on setting up the cafe for a party. We were told they were no longer serving and would have to go somewhere else. (We went to Manor Farm at Oldcoates and it was lovely - thoroughly recommend)

The private party in the cafe was very loud- it didn’t bother our party but was a problem for some other guests. There was no warning that it was happening and went on past midnight, again, no problem for us but would have been courteous to warn campsite guests that a special event was planned.

The bins area is quite unkempt, the gravel path to the toilet drain is weedy and the electric box in that area has no door.

Lovely Location in need of more consideration.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Lake side location close to good towns and excellent transport links. The pitches had hedges to 3 sides which made for great privacy.

Disliked On Shower and one toilet for all the site was not ideal and I think that the cleanliness left much to be desired. The on site restaurant held an event on Saturday night which was exceptionally loud and went on until late into the night. This is not quite what you would expect from a countryside location like this. Because of the event the onsite cafe/restaurant was closed. It would have been nice if the owners/staff had informed the people on the site at booking or before arrival so that they could make an informed choice as to whether they wished to continue to stay. The site on Saturday was noisier than a Sheffield nightclub and it was so bad on caravan left at 10.15 pm.

Very nice and quiet place, plenty of space to walk, I will…

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Very nice and quiet place, plenty of space to walk, I will definitely come back

Disliked There could be a few more showers and toilets, but it is not that important because the pitches are only for campers and caravans and each has a water and electricity connection.

Would probably visit again, but probably not at busy times

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Site was nice pitch was very good with elec water and waste water and also had a small hedge around it which made it a little more private, 5 small pond/lakes for fishing if your into that, nice cafe on site and prices reasonable.

Disliked Only one toilet and one shower which was OK as only 5 caravans on site but site has 15 spaces so could probably do with more when full. Didn't like that the get waste point and elsa point didnt have a cover in.

Lovely and quiet little site in the country side. Shower and toilet…

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked After reading some of the reviews i wasnt expecting much from the site but its cheap and close to home for our first break this year but so glad we came it's lovley. Absolutely beautiful so peaceful. Massive pitches. Kids loved the site and already asking when we will be back and we only just set off home.

Disliked The walk to toilet and shower room but that's no major. Could of done with the lights on the cafe decking on so it made the walk lighter.
