What customers say

Clean, quiet, friendly site, spacious pitches. Showers praised for cleanliness. Adults-only area a bonus. Some found access tricky, electricity pay-as-you-go. A few felt it was a bit basic or dated for longer stays.

Electric optional grass tent pitch (adults only)

Liked Very quiet site, if you're looking for peace, this is the place! Great views from the top campsite, 20 minute walk to a lovely village pub and small shop, 10 minutes in the car to a larger Co op. Short drive to Sherwood Forest or Rufford Mill, so ideally situated for walks in peaceful woodland.
Amenities are basic but clean and regularly checked. Nice to have a hot shower, at a campsite for a change.

Disliked Its so quiet, the birds sound deafening! 🤣

Electric optional grass tent pitch (adults only)

Liked We had such a wonderful stay here! The site itself was beautifully quiet with stunning views over the countryside, making it a really relaxing place to unwind. The location couldn’t have been better — just a short drive to most of the main tourist attractions in the area, while also being a perfect base to visit family and friends nearby. The staff were all friendly and really helpful, which made us feel very welcome.

The shower and toilet cubicles were spotless and well looked after, which made such a difference during our stay. Another bonus was the long walk right beside the site, next to the fields — perfect for stretching our legs. We’re really looking forward to bringing our dog with us next time so he can enjoy it too!

All in all, this campsite ticked every box for us, and we honestly can’t wait to come back.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Very simple and calm place, everything you need is on your hand for one night on the road for scotland, for example. There are 2 areas : one for family with games for children and an other one for adults only.

Electric optional grass tent pitch (adults only)

Liked Ease of booking. Friendly staff

Disliked A long way down a farm track through a salubrious industrial estate. A small site of mainly seasonal pitches and a storage yard. As it was a Saturday night there were a large contingent of regulars enjoying a rowdy evening of drinking and in-caravan karaoke. We quietly cooked our tea and settled down for an early start. The noise subsided around ten so no problem to us but may not be great for families with children. Toilets didn’t flush well and there wasn’t anything within walking distance of the site.

Local attractions

Robin Hood Retreat is a short drive from the rides, farm and waterpark of Robin Hoods Wheelgate Family Theme Park and from the cute creatures of White Post Farm Animal Park. If you're ambling around Sherwood Forest, the Major Oak in its midst should enthrall the kids too, as according to legend it's the shelter where Robin Hood and his merry men slept. Adrenaline seekers can swing around nearby at Go Ape, or career around the quad bike and go-kart track near Rufford; the area also has the Water Meadows Swimming and Fitness Complex in Mansfield, National Cycle Network pedals, and Norwood Golf Club a short drive from the site. For history, Newark Castle on the banks of the Trent or the spectacular city views from high-up Nottingham Castle are both good picks, or you could get to Newstead Abbey, the former twelfth-century monastery with extensive gardens, lakes, ponds and waterfalls. Other attractions include Rufford Park, Southwell Minster, Mr Straw's House in Worksop and the Southwell Garden Centre.
