  • Family-run site on a working farm in Northamptonshire
  • Castles, stately homes and woodland walks all within a 20-minute drive
  • Farm shop and café selling local produce; 10 minutes' walk from a pub
Find fab nosh and forest walks on this family-run working farm site in Northamptonshire: New Lodge Farm Caravan and Camping Site is a peaceful and spacious spot in the Rockingham Forest, a once-vast wooded area that was William the Conqueror’s favourite hunting ground. Whatever you’re chasing, the mix of medieval castles, market towns and ancient woodlands teeming with wildlife makes for rich pickings… Surrounded by fields, with the skies visited by a large resident population of red kites, you’ll feel right out in nature here. Dogs are welcome as well, and there’s a one-acre walking area set aside, taking you and canine companions down to the duck ponds. The farm shop and café are bursting with local produce to relish or to pack as picnics on your rambles round the area. Barbecues are allowed and there’s a mighty good selection of farm-fresh lamb, beef and pork for you to buy at the shop. For more supplies, it’s a 10-minute walk into Bulwick, where there’s a village store selling basics and a cracking good pub with hot food. Preserving a strong sense of the past, the team at New Lodge Farm Caravan and Camping Site have converted the old Victorian milking parlour into a block containing bright and roomy washrooms with showers, a laundry and a washing-up area.

Liked A very nice well groomed (by the robot lawn mower) site. Excellent facilities and helpful staff. Very well stocked shop. No children!

Disliked Yappy dogs on both sides! Couldn't we have dog free areas in camp sites?

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked From checking in to our sad departure the whole stay was amazing. Facilities are excellent and all staff were friendly and hard working. Pitch sizes are great and we had no troubles at all. Our stay was in the hottest part of the year so far and I have to say the shop had a great selection of ice lollies and drinks to help with the heat. Having a cafe on site was also a bonus for us and we can both highly recommend the lemon cake which was perfect with a latte !. We have both said it won't be our last visit, thank you all.

Disliked Nothing at all, I've tried to think of something but there's nothing !

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Nice site, well run, great wardens. Pitches and services very good. Showers snd toilets kept very clean. On site cafe/shop very good with a nice selection of morning products, fresh meat and cakes etc.
Easy access if travelling from A1

Disliked My only dislike is caravans and motorhomes can be parked across there own pitches and you can end up with neighbours looking directly into your caravan as they are pointing in your direction. It’s not a complaint just my personal opinion…

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Site is nicely laid out, easy to find and pretty quiet. The pricing is fair. Staff were welcoming and friendly and the dog exercise field is good. WiFi about the best we’ve had on site. Toilet/showers warm and clean.

Disliked Site advertised as having a farm shop and restaurant. We arrived at 4pm to find both shop and cafe closed; so no food available. There are pubs within a short drive but disappointing to find that the facilities advertised weren’t available.

Shepherd's hut

Liked As a mature couple this trip was organised by our wonderful daughter in law as a surprise birthday treat for our son.
We stayed in a shepherds hut. It was modern and spotlessly clean.
The bed was very comfortable and the hut had everything we needed including a TV! The staff were so helpful and friendly.
The farm shop is brilliant with a range of fresh products and gift items
We had breakfast and Sunday lunch in the restaurant and both were first class.

Disliked This isn't a critique. I think it would be useful to have a handrail on the steps to the hut. In our stage of life it help to have the extra safety.

Local attractions

One of England’s smaller counties, Northamptonshire packs a lot in to a small area, and it’s particularly well supplied with historic dwellings. The richly decorated but roofless Kirby Hall, the half-finished Elizabethan manor surrounded by wildflower meadows at Lyvden New Bield and the sturdy grandeur of 900-year-old Rockingham Castle can all be explored within a 20-minute drive. If walks and wildlife are your thing, you’ll be similarly well sorted: make for Fermyn Wood Country Park (15 minutes) to see what the whole Rockingham Forest area must once have looked like, taking circular trails to spot badgers and fallow deer. A similar distance away, Bedford Purlieus National Nature Reserve buzzes with bird and insect life, among the remains of Roman and medieval quarries and smelting houses. A 20-minute drive away, the nature reserve at Rutland Water is paired with a massive outdoor leisure area for swimming, walking, sailing, fishing and windsurfing. If you’re more into petrol power, it’s 15 minutes to Rockingham Speedway for regular race meets, track experiences and vintage rallies. Heading further out (in every way), it's 50 minutes from the site to the National Space Centre in Leicester. While you're there, take in the King Richard III Visitor Centre and pay your respects to the last Plantagenet king, who now rests in the cathedral, and make time for a mooch round the 700-year-old market.
