  • Well-kept level 20-acre site 10 minutes' walk from Fleet Hargate
  • A 20-minute drive to Spalding; bus stops in the village
  • Café on site with homemade cakes and summer weekend events
Whether you want to sun yourself on the grass or angle at the water, Lawns and Lakes Camping and Caravanning is a peaceful and well-maintained 20-acre site from which to do both (or nothing at all) among the lovely Lincolnshire countryside... If you’d rather just use the place as a base, that’s no problem either: access to the site – a 10-minute walk from the village of Fleet Hargate and 20 minutes’ drive from Spalding – is straightforward as it’s a short detour from the A17. Roaming on foot is a cinch too – just unhook the gate and wander out onto surrounding paths for a stroll. Any four-legged travellers that have come along for a break can stretch their paws at the site’s dog walking area, half a mile of dog-oriented space with bins for the inevitable mess. Park owners Nigel and Tracy have set their place up to make sure the local wildlife’s just as happy as the guests: there are trees and shrubs all around, along with wildflower meadows that are popular with woodpeckers, kingfishers and other birds. The park’s two fishing lakes are stocked with carp, bream, tench, roach and rudd, and ducks often stop by too. You’re also likely to meet the family’s flock of hens, whose goings-on are most amusing at feeding time. For eats, you may like to set up a barbecue or wander to the village pub or farm shop; treats are to be had closer to home at the site’s Sweet Delights Café, which serves up hot drinks, homemade cakes and ice cream sundaes with a side order of entertainment on selected weekends. A bus stop service is available on site through a call connect service or via a short stroll to the village.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: A lovely site, well run by Nigel and Tracy who are cracking folk, as were the rest of the staff we encountered. The Barns eatery produced some good food and was priced accordingly. Not a cheap eat but worth it. There were a couple of good ales on the bar too, Doombar and Atlantic IPA. Pitch was on grass by the lake and because of the weather was difficult to manoeuvre as soon got muddy. We were towed onto pitch by Nigel in his tractor, but getting off was exciting and apologies for making a mess of the field a little. Fishing in the small pool was good on the back of the caravan. Full of skimmer bream to about 8 ounces, small roach and carp to about 10lb at a guess. In all no issues going again, a well run site, very clean. Showers etc fine and cleaned multiple times a day. Absolutely fantastic prolific bird population too... Dawn chorus was amazing.

Disliked: Fishing was a lottery and nearly had an altercation to get a peg with another guy in a caravan. Allocation of pegs maybe helpful to avoid this. Very steep bank to the waterside also an issue so landing nets essential. To be fair though small marker flags had been put on one peg to indicate severity of bank drop. The larger lake though very more exposed yielding some good fish I believe though didn't fish it.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely kind review and MAXIMUM SCORE, unfortunately Easter with the weather proved to be a little tricky - I know a great deal of sites remainned closed throughout. As you had booked a Fishing stand pitch your stand was already allotted to you and nobody else should have been on your stand, i wished you had come and seen us and we could have sorted the issue out immeditely, it is not a free for all in this area. The big lake further down the site is open to all and when the weather has improved we allow cars to be parked at the back of the stand. We very much look forward to welcoming you again, best wishes

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Lovely atmosphere in this family run site. The owners are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The clubhouse is a great place to relax and either eat and/or drink without breaking the bank. Clean well kept pitches in a lovely tranquil environment. Highly recommended.

Electric grass touring pitch (XL)

Liked: Lovely friendly owners who made you feel welcome. Tracey did everything possible to help with an accessible pitch we ended up on a road end because of the wet weather but this worked out fine for us we enjoyed the takeaway fish and chips on Friday evening, didn't do the party night on Saturday but we had the lovely full breakfast on Sunday morning which was delicious We will be back in summer months to enjoy the peaceful bike rides to the Wash

Disliked: Only the weather

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The warm welcome on arrival, beautiful, level grass pitch next to the lake. The site is immaculate and well organised with great facilities. The showers and toilets heated, clean and well maintained. There was a barn selling food, drink and had entertainment if you wanted to join in.

Disliked: There was nothing to dislike

Local attractions

Not had enough bird-based entertainment on site? Head over to Baytree Owl and Wildlife Centre 15 minutes’ drive to catch a falconry display or flutter 25 minutes away to the RSPB Frampton Marsh Nature Reserve for a touch of twitching in the wild. If the kids are in tow, take them to Jurassic Golf for the crazy golf course then follow up with the Fun Farm indoor play centre (both 15 minutes). Adults meanwhile might appreciate Ayscoughfee Hall Museum and Gardens for the regular concerts, theatrical performances and craft sessions; Peckover House and Gardens is also for them if they’re into aping the aristocracy on tours of posh country homes…
