  • Adults-only site on a quiet park edging Burton upon Stather
  • The Deep Aquarium 35 minutes’ drive; Lincolnshire Wolds 40 minutes
  • Fishing lake and shared lakeside log cabin; rural walks from the site
If you’re thinking of a quiet North Lincolnshire holiday, perhaps you should be thinking Acorn Wood. Set on the outskirts of the village of Burton upon Stather, this adults-only site should be a relaxing getaway for anyone who appreciates countryside walks, a peaceful setting and maybe a spot of fishing. The well-stocked on-site fishing lake is for the use of experienced anglers – and don’t forget that a rod licence is required by law. Sitting on the banks of the lake is the communal log cabin, where you can chill while using the book and DVD swap, make new friends among fellow guests, have a drink and socialise. A small shop is open daily for you to stock up on basics, gifts and fishing bait (opening times vary depending on time of year). Burton upon Stather itself has a couple of essentials stores, pubs that do great food and lots of walking and cycling opportunities.

What customers say

This adults-only, dog-friendly spot's often lauded for its calm vibe and neat grounds, with a pretty fishing lake. Owners are welcoming, facilities are clean, and pitches are spacious. Nearby village perks and walks are a bonus. Small gripes about dog barks and outdoor furniture cleanliness were mentioned, but mostly guests loved it and want to come back.

Darby 2 bedroom lodge

Liked We had a wonderful few days staying in a lodge at Acorn Wood, and this place exceeded our expectations.

From the moment we arrived, we felt a very peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. The lodge was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and very well equipped — everything we needed for a relaxing stay was provided.

We especially enjoyed the fishing lake. It is a beautiful and well-maintained area where you can relax, enjoy nature, and spend some peaceful time fishing. It is a fantastic bonus for anyone who enjoys fishing.

The whole campsite is very tidy, quiet, and well organised. It is the perfect place to escape from everyday life and simply unwind.

A big thank you to the owners for their hospitality and for making our stay so enjoyable. We had a fantastic time and would definitely love to come back again.

We highly recommend Acorn Wood!

Electric gravel pitch

Liked Beautiful small campsite but with lots to offer. Welcomed as soon as we arrived and shown to our large spacious pitch. Also given a thorough run down of where all the amenities around the campsite were. There was also a well stocked honesty shop which added a nice touch. The campsite was well looked after with spotless showers/toilets. There was also a lake if you like fishing or for just walking around. The lake also had a summer house were you can sit and read, watch the wildlife and chill. This was also equipped with tea and coffee and a microwave and comfy sofas. Walking distance to the village which has a shop and lovely pub (with added cafe at the rear) there is also a working mans club. Lots of lovely walks with route markers to follow. Buses into nearby Scunthorpe if wanting to travel further.

Darby 2 bedroom lodge

Liked We received a very warm welcome from the host. The accomodation was very home from home, everything had been thought of and it was immaculately clean. We loved that the lodge had it's own private garden area and secure parking next to it. The little honesty shop was well stocked with both essentials and gift items/souvenirs. The lake and fisherman's lodge were absolutely amazing, you can tell how much love, care and hard work has gone into creating such a beautiful and unique area to enjoy.

Disliked The only thing I disliked were the air fresheners and smellies in the lodge but that is only due to me having sensitivities due to autism.

Electric gravel pitch

Liked Beautiful, small and very quiet site. Great little lake, with a cabin to sit in or on the decking. Facilities and the staff were first class.
Very handy for the surrounding places including Scunthorpe but far enough away in the countryside.

Disliked Nothing we didn't dislike.
