General

  • Peaceful adults-only site on a small working farm in Lincolnshire
  • Walker’s paradise: loads of quiet country lanes and bridle paths
  • Half an hour’s drive from the city of Lincoln

Need an escape from that fast-paced modern life? Get back to nature at Dean House Campsite, a stripped back adults-only site at the rear of a small farm half an hour's drive from the city of Lincoln.

A top spot for exploring Lincolnshire at a slow pace, there are loads of quiet country lanes and bridle paths in the area around Dean House. You can also follow a nearby bridle path directly into Chambers Farm Wood – part of the Lincolnshire Limewoods and a haven for budding stargazers – to explore the waymarked trails or the night sky.
If you prefer to explore in the saddle, the scenic village of Woodhall Spa is 35 minutes’ cycle from Dean House and the towns of Wragby and Horncastle are both half an hour away.

Back on site, unwind further by soaking up the peaceful, quiet atmosphere, looking out over the fields. When your stomach starts protesting, get a barbecue going – you can pick up supplies from one of the supermarkets within 10 minutes’ drive – then chow down with your feet warming by the campfire. Fancy a break from cooking? There are tons of restaurants within 20 minutes’ drive of Dean House.

The owners! The cleanliness of the facilities, the quietness/remoteness of area, relaxed ambience of the site. Also the animals: horse, free-range chickens, plenty of working cats.

This is a really nice, small campsite. The toilet and shower is well designed, kept clean and has a great supply of hot water. Plenty of level ground for pitching on, you can park next to your tent and there are picnic tables / benches to use. Friendly owners who are nearly always on site and a reasonable price.

Lovely quiet spot with a nice walk to the pub. Good shower which is always a bonus!

    Disliked:

The fact that after a week of sunshine it rained in the night and our ineptitude with a new tent lead to some localised flooding of the groundsheet! All down to the workmen though! Can’t blame the site at all!

Tucked away in a corner at the back of the owners family home and stables is a small grassy area for four pitches - a clean toilet/shower room with mega hot water and a host who is warm and welcoming and very helpful. We loved it was motorbike friendly too ( and adults only!)
A great budget spot on the doorstep of the Wolds. If we’re in that neck of the woods again we will definitely be back.

A small site, which suited us perfectly as we were looking for a quiet getaway. The pitches are flat and no stones in the ground so setting up was easy. Also, the pitches are very generous with picnic tables available.
The site also offers firepits and has logs available to purchase.
All in all an excellent stay and highly recommended.

There’s nothing more sedate than a trip to one of England’s stately homes, where you can easily imagine a life of utter leisure – Doddington Hall, Tattershall Castle, Belton House and Grantham House are all within an hour’s drive of Dean House, and you can take a stroll around the spectacular Petwood Gardens, 15 minutes away, to be at one with nature.

The city of Lincoln is 30 minutes from the site, and a must-visit for oodles of history. If you only have a limited amount of time, make your way to the stunning Lincoln Cathedral, follow the Roman Trail or visit the Medieval Bishop’s Palace – and don’t forget to explore the vineyard in the palace gardens. If that’s only whet your appetite, there’s plenty more to keep you busy too, from museums and galleries to shops and restaurants.

Aviation and motoring buffs can get their fill of planes, trains and automobiles with stops at Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Centre, the Bubblecar Museum, Lincolnshire Aviation and Lincolnshire Wolds Railway, all within half an hour of Deans House.

Stressing about going back to work? Finish off your holiday with a trip to the Workhouse in Southwell, an hour away, where suddenly you won’t feel so bad about returning to your annoying colleagues, small cubicle and crammed inbox…
