  • Smart modern three-bedroom caravan by the beach in Ingoldmells
  • A five-minute drive to Skegness; Fantasy Island 15 minutes' walk
  • Passes included for holiday park activities including large waterpark
Setting off for a seaside break is splendidly easy when you book a stay at Butlins Caravan Village, a Lincolnshire holiday park right by the beach in Ingoldmells, a couple of miles along the coast from Skegness. Come along here and you’ll be staying in a top-notch caravan by the name of Sophia, who lives in a quiet corner of the holiday park known as The Dunes. It’s a particularly good location because it gives guests the choice of spending some peaceful time on the deck (perhaps a drink at sunset?) or crossing over to the main resort and throwing themselves into all the action. And what action it is… each booking will include four Butlins wristbands, giving access to a range of activities and facilities including restaurants, bars, arcades, the traditional fairground and the huge waterpark full of waterslides and rapids to swoosh down. There’s also a good collection of kids’ activities throughout high season – mini archery, sand art and football sessions are just some of the options. Also included is access to a full programme of shows – depending on the day, you may get comedy shows, circus performances or musicals evenings. On top of all that, for a small extra charge you can try bowling, adventure golf, go-karting, pottery painting, laser tag… With all this to fill your days, it’s good to know you’ll have to make very little effort on the accommodation front – your caravan has three bedrooms (with clean bedding, towels and a welcome pack provided), heating, air conditioning, wifi and a fully fitted kitchen for easy meals/snacks on those days when you don’t fancy eating out.

Local attractions

There's so much to do back at the park that you may not venture out to explore the local area straight away – but when you do, there’s plenty of fun to be had nearby. That starts with a bit of time on the beach, of course, but may well then continue with a 15-minute walk up to Fantasy Island, a theme park packed full of rollercoasters, rides and attractions for all ages. After that, it’s a short drive to Skegness (five minutes) to see the cute residents of Natureland Seal Sanctuary, take a peek underwater at Skegness Aquarium and have a classic seaside day full of donkey rides, pier strolls and fish and chips. For other outings nearby, try Hardy’s Animal Farm (five minutes), sign up for a beachy horse ride at Orchard Farm Equestrian (10 minutes) or venture a little way inland to marvel at the old planes of Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre and go on safari through the Wolds Wildlife Park (both half an hour).
