  • Quiet adults-only park among Lincolnshire farmland; dogs allowed
  • A 20-minute drive from beaches at Skegness and Mablethorpe
  • Half a mile from the village pub and shop
A warm and friendly welcome awaits at The Nurseries Caravan Park, an adults-only, dog-friendly park in a semi-rural setting in Lincolnshire. Set at the end of a quiet lane and surrounded by farmland, this site is well-placed for relaxing breaks both in the Lincolnshire countryside and by the sea. Coastal trips are particularly easily arranged at Skegness or Mablethorpe, both of which can be reached in about a 20-minute drive. The site is located in the village of Mumby near Alford, and there's a pub and shop about half a mile away on foot or by car (a few last-minute essentials are also available to buy on site). Facilities here include spotless men's and women's toilets and showers, one of which is suitable for people with reduced mobility. There is also a laundry room, a freezer for ice etc., a food preparation area and a separate washing-up sink. Adjacent to the facilities block, there is also a chemical waste disposal point for tourers. Handily, the site has an on-site café for tasty snacks and daily essentials. The Nurseries Caravan Park is very pet-friendly, and there is plenty of safe off-site dog walking to be had in the surrounding area for exploration with your four-legged friend.

Liked: Don't like that we have to describe ourselves as 'middle aged' or 'mature' - what's the difference?! We are young 50 somethings with two large dogs.
Just returned from three nights at The Nurseries. We were lucky with the weather, which always helps, but even so, the site is lovely. Situated in a small village with a pub, but hidden away, it is a great location. Fabulous beaches are just a ten minute drive away and despite the gorgeous weather they were still virtually deserted. They are also dog friendly even at this time of year. The caravan site has a small area for seasonal pitches, but the main area for touring caravans is well kept, neat and a good distance between pitches. Each pitch has fake grass/astroturf under where the awning goes and this is a genius idea! I wish all sites did this and it's such a small thing, but would certainly be something that would make us return to this site. The wardens are wonderful - Tracy and Dave - and they were so helpful, friendly and couldn't do enough for us. They run a little dog friendly cafe for breakfasts on the site and this is a real bonus. We only managed one morning, but should have done more. The toilet block/facilities are clean, although not luxurious, but I tend to use my own bathroom anyway so didn't really use them. My husband said they were absolutely fine. There is a dish washing area, washing machines etc and a little shop with essentials in case you've forgotten anything. Overall a great site, a little away from the main seaside resorts which meant it was peaceful and a great escape. Adults only and very dog friendly which is another bonus. There is a brilliant dog walk immediately adjacent to the site through a gate onto a long track through open fields. You can tell that Tracy and Dave take great pride in their work and are excellent hosts.

Disliked: We are fairly easy going and there is nothing that we would take issue with or want to complain about. In the long term I suppose they might need to invest a little in the toilet block to perhaps increase the number of toilets/showers etc. Also, although this is not the fault of The Nurseries, our booking through Pitch up had not been sent through to the site. We had paid/I had proof etc and Dave took it all in his stride sorting it not giving us any cause for stress, but if the site had been full not quite sure what we would have done?! I have confidence that Dave would have come up with a plan...

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Peace & quiet, lovely friendly hosts, spacious flat pitches and nice dog walks from the door. A nice village pub with good food was also in walking distance.
Added bonus of having a breakfast cooked for you in the on-site cafe, Thor the "sausage" dog enjoyed his treat from Tracy.

Disliked: Not a dislike more a suggestion, as the weather turned cooler some heating in the shower block would of been nice.

Local attractions

The small seaside town of Sutton on Sea (15 minutes' drive) is an excellent place to start exploring the Lincolnshire coast, with its attractive seafront, pretty public gardens and spectacular natural beach. The place feels more like a village than a town and is a world away from the bright lights and buzzing arcades of similarly nearby Skegness and Mablethorpe (both 20 minutes), both of which are also well worth visiting in their own right. For a change of scene, you could continue along the coast to the Seal Sanctuary (20 minutes), where sick and wounded sea creatures are nursed back to full health, or head inland instead to the National Trust property of Gunby Hall (15 minutes), a handsome 1700s country house with Victorian walled gardens. If you're happy to head slightly further afield, you could sample local ales at Batemans Brewery (25 minutes), plan jaunts to traditional market towns like Louth (35 minutes), a famed foodie hotspot, or leave the countryside behind to visit the cathedral city of Lincoln (an hour) and its pretty medieval streets.
