  • Kiln Cabins: Forest Trails and Tranquility
Welcome to Kiln Cabins, where meadow glamping meets woodland wilderness. Set within a one‑acre field with a natural, rustic charm, our site is a haven for walkers, mountain bikers, climbers and kayakers. Families and dog‑friendly guests are very much at home here. Step straight from your cabin into the woods behind the meadow and follow trails that weave through the Forest of Dean and out toward the breathtaking Wye Valley. Whether you’re here for adventure or relaxation, the landscape does the heavy lifting. Evenings are made for fire pits, stargazing and unwinding. Mornings are best spent on your private balcony with a fresh brew or a glass of something chilled. Wildlife is abundant — rabbits dart across the meadow and birds of prey circle overhead. Set in the village of Staunton, one of the region’s hotspots for walking and mountain biking, Kiln Cabins puts you right at the heart of the action.

Local attractions

If you can tear yourself away from the meadow, Staunton is a welcoming village with one of the best foodie pubs in the area. The White Horse is consistently 5‑star rated on TripAdvisor and is known for its warm atmosphere, standout dishes and excellent vegetarian options. Staunton is renowned for its forest trails, and you’ll find footpaths right from the site. These include the Wysis Way, an 88km long‑distance route, as well as scenic loops around Stowfield Quarry. Bring bikes and you can easily reach Symonds Yat and the wider Forest of Dean network. The Forest of Dean Cycle Centre is also close by — just a 10‑minute drive or a 20‑minute (mostly off‑road) cycle. It’s one of the region’s top biking hubs, offering an 11‑mile family trail, a choice of blue and red graded routes, dedicated downhill and freeride lines, plus bike hire, a workshop, a café and full visitor facilities. The Wye Valley AONB is an outdoor‑lover’s paradise, attracting walkers, climbers, mountain bikers and canoeists. Whatever your chosen adventure, the guest book is full of tried‑and‑tested recommendations. A short drive brings you to Monmouth, a historic market town with theatres, independent shops, cafés and all the essentials, including Lidl, Waitrose and M&S. There’s also a leisure centre for rainy‑day activities. Travel in the opposite direction and you’ll find Tintern, a postcard‑perfect village known for its dramatic Abbey, artisan crafts and the Old Station riverside site.
