Friendly goats on site

  • Simple and peaceful rural site in the Peak District National Park
  • Views of Curbar Edge; Chatsworth House 15 minutes’ drive
  • Modern facilities with a shared kitchen; goats in adjoining fields
When you feel the need to surround yourself with the hills and valleys of Derbyshire’s Peak District National Park, it’s probably time to get booked in at Cherry Blossom Farm. This splendid pop-up spot certainly has dramatic views of Curbar Edge, but it also has a huge field where you can spread out, a modern facilities block (don’t expect a power shower as the water is pumped uphill to reach the site) on the edge of the pitches, and a basic communal kitchen where you can prep food under cover if the weather’s not looking too great. Other things going for this site include an easy approach off a quiet country lane (you won’t hear any traffic noise here), curious goats and livestock grazing in the fields, stroll-able access to a decent local pub (10 minutes’ walk, but be prepared for a slog back uphill on the return journey), and scenic Peak District walks straight from your pitch.

If you’re looking for another reason to start packing and head for Cherry Blossom Farm, how about this? The site is near one of the filming locations for ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’. You can see where the epic train scene was shot at Darlton Quarry in Stoney Middleton (five minutes’ drive).

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Great views, close to the quarry if your climbing, amenities

Disliked Only 2 showers, hardly worked, mainly cold/freezing. Only 2 toilets, which caused a lot of queues.
We read on the reviews of this and owners mentioned that capacity of campsite was reduced to 15 pitches to stop the above. We counted well over 15 pitches taken.
We are climbers and needed a hot shower after climbing all day and paying £28 for one night was very disappointing

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi there, sorry you had to wait. We have reduced the site capacity by 15 pitches- not to only 15 pitches. We are considering getting more showers and toilets as we have found ourselves to be much busier this year. All feedback is welcome and we take it all into consideration.

We turned up on the wrong date, but they didn’t have a problem with us staying which was amazing. Whole Camp time site to ourselves. Again, thank you so much.🫶🏼

Disliked Que for the toilet

From the manager: Hi there, glad you enjoyed the peace and quiet, we also find it very peaceful :-)
Sorry you had to queue for the toilet. We have reduced the number of pitches but may reduce further as we want everyone to have a nice experience. We have found ourselves to be much busier than last year so we are considering increasing the facilities. Thanks for your feedback. Hope to see you again.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked This is camping with all the comforts of home! The site is fairly high up and reached by a very steep, but straight and well-maintained road. Our little car struggled a bit on the way up, but the views made it completely worth it!

There’s a cabin with a kitchen, including two fridges, two sinks and tea/coffee-making facilities. The same cabin also has two toilets and two showers, all of which were clean and well maintained.

We camped for two nights. The site was full on our second night, but even then, I never had more than one person ahead of me in the queue for the toilet!

There are also some very cute goats on site that you can pet. Overall, it’s a lovely, relaxed and scenic campsite, and we really enjoyed our stay.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Excellent site if you're looking for peace and quiet. In terms of facilities, everything you will need however could do with a couple more toilets when busy as you can find yourself waiting around for a while to get in.

From the manager: Hi Blain, thanks for the review. We agree we could do with a couple more toilets during busy times. We’ve found ourselves to be much busier this year! We’ve reduced pitch numbers but may need to do this again. Hope to see you again!

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely view and good location, large pitches. Great pub down the hill in the village :-) just be prepared for the steep walk back up the hill!

Disliked The poor facilities spoilt the experience, only 2 toilets and 2 showers for the whole site. There were over 30 tents/vans when we were there, so 2 toilets for around 100 people!

Showers also weren't clean, old dirt around the edges not just muck from people's feet. Water leaked from under the shower tray so the floor got wet and there's no shelf or chair to put a bag on, and nothing to wipe the floor with.

Indoor washing up area was OK (kettle and toaster were popular, as were the sockets near the floor for device charging) but people were brushing their teeth and washing faces in the kitchen sinks because of the lack of a proper washing area.

Toilets didn't flush well and my husband had an unpleasant experience dealing with someone else's blockage so we could use the toilet, no staff in sight. The small hand-towels provided in the toilet cubicles were very unhygienic.

From the manager: Hi there, we note your comments and sorry you had a problem with the facilities. We’re a small family site and found ourselves to be much busier than last year. Rest assured we’re working on improving the facilities during busy times.
We are always on site, we don’t have a hi vis or anything. We do sometimes employ someone to clean when we have a family event.
Thank you for your feedback. It’s very much taken into consideration to help us improve our little campsite :-)

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Beautiful spot with plenty of space. Gorgeous view. Nice to have a space with a toaster and kettle.

Disliked The facilities were too few, with just two unisex toilets and two showers, meaning queuing even though the site wasn’t particularly busy. They could do with the same block again, at least. Also, there was nowhere immediately obvious for drinking water, despite looking. Zero presence of the owners (despite trying to call them); I’m not saying they need to hold my hand but an appearance to say hello and answer questions (like, where’s the drinking water?) would’ve been nice.

From the manager: Hi there, thanks for your review. We’re always about and if we can’t answer immediately you can always message and we will get back to you. We don’t wear a hi vis or anything so you may mistake us for a fellow camper but we’re aspiring to be peaceful and unintrusive.
We agree we could do with more toilets and showers during busy times and have found ourselves much busier this year so will endeavour to rectify this in the future.
Really pleased you enjoyed the view and toaster/kettle :-)

Local attractions

Hikers, you’ll be happy to hear that you can access walking trails across Coombs Dale from the pitches, while more challenging tracks along the escarpment at rugged Curbar Edge are an hour’s yomp away. You can also walk or cycle across the viaduct and along a former railway line on the Monsal Trail (10 minutes’ drive) – and there are countless more options for exploring on foot or two wheels in the Peak District National Park. There’s plenty of heritage to discover in the area too. See the isolated Riley Graves just outside Eyam (five minutes), the plague village where there’s also a small museum displaying gruesome medical artefacts. Learn how the aristocracy of the time lived with a self-guided tour of lavish apartments at Chatsworth House (15 minutes), where you can wander extensive grounds designed by Capability Brown – there’s also a petting farm and adventure playground if the kids are getting fed up with history. Lively Bakewell (15 minutes) sits on the River Wye and pulls in visitors for its indie shopping scene and bakeries selling the namesake almond-flavoured tarts. When you’re all shopped out, book ahead for a guided tour of Thornbridge Brewery and grab a restorative pint.
