Cows and sheep for neighbours, gorgeous walks from the pitches and the likes of Bakewell (home of delicious almond-flavoured tarts) and Chatsworth House within 20 minutes’ drive… who could turn down a Peak District National Park getaway at Brosterfield Farm Caravan Park? What a stunning and peaceful place it is, too: the camping meadow is surrounded by fields and operates as a quiet site, which means no loud noise or music allowed, please, as the owners want you to relax and get back to nature. Spotless facilities include modern showers, toilets, a pot-washing area and a chemical disposal point. In addition, there are a couple of electric-car charging points as well as recycling facilities in the corner of the camping field. Barbecues are allowed (bring your own from home), and you can stock up on bits for the grill at the supermarket in Bakewell. Your canine chums (up to two per pitch) are also welcome, and luckily, the local pub is dog-friendly (both inside and out) with an excellent restaurant, open fires and good ales. It’s only 10 minutes’ walk away in the pretty village of Foolow, which has a duck pond and is the start of many Peak District walks and mountain-biking trails.

Liked: Nice, quiet camp! Showers were hot and the entire camp was clean and well maintained. Spacious pitches, felt safe and secure. Good location for getting around with Castleton and Edale just a 15/20min drive. Visited the pub which was a 10min walk on one of the chillier evenings.

Disliked: Would agree with comments that the taps are too short for the washing up sinks, wasn’t a problem for us as the camp was quiet but in busier periods there could be a queue for toilets and showers.

Liked: Peaceful site in a wonderful location for exploring the Peak District.
Level with mown grass, easy to pitch.
Very clean, new toilet and shower blocks with lovely little touches like soaps and hairdryer to use.
3 large washing up stations. Little touches like washing up pads and soap.
Little shop on site for basics you may have forgotten.
No electric pitches so we went on gas and battery. Wasn't a problem.
Easy and clean areas for waste management.
Pub not even 5 minutes walk away was lovely.

Disliked: Bit hard to find as round the corner from the farm - signage could be bigger / directions better as postcode doesn't get you there!

Liked: Nice little site, it seems to have more pitches than there was last year (2024) or maybe it was just quieter than this year.
But still quiet and well sheltered.

Disliked: shower and toilet facilities. Only 2 toilets and showers in the men's block and 3 in the female block.

Liked: Quiet and calm pitch with plenty of space for those with a booked space. My visit was early in the season, but places were limited when I booked so they keep the number of clients under control. Shower and toilets clean and very pleasant to use. Local pub only 10min walk away with good food.

Liked: Loved how peaceful this site was. And so close to local pub for dinner. Planned hikes around the site. Would definitely stay again. Only few toilets/ showers but this wasn’t a problem, kept very clean.

Disliked: Was on the pricey side for a pitch with No Electric. (Don’t agree when sites charge extra for dogs they don’t take up any extra space and don’t even use the facilities)
Don’t get me wrong would definitely stay on this site again , location is spot on !!!
Just wished sites didn’t charge for dogs

Hikers can soon be out on the Monsal Trail (10 minutes’ drive), which offers spectacular views over Monsal Dale and the viaduct at Monsal Head. Kids will have fun crossing the stepping stones at Chee Dale (20 minutes), where you can all follow the River Wye through its limestone gorge. Alternatively, families may prefer to spend the day on cable-car rides at the Heights of Abraham (35 minutes), take vintage vehicle jaunts from Crich Tramway Village or enjoy dinosaur trails and adventure golf at Gulliver’s Kingdom (both 40 minutes). Peak District National Park culture vultures among you? As well as a farmyard where kids can meet the animals, stately Chatsworth House (20 minutes) is set in Capability Brown-designed parkland and has a fantastic art collection, while largely 12th-century Haddon Hall (25 minutes) is open for tours of its vaulted banqueting hall and formal Elizabethan gardens. The infamous ‘plague village’ of Eyam (five minutes’ drive) is packed with pretty stone cottages and cute tearooms, and there’s a craft centre at the Jacobean-era Eyam Hall.
