  • Premium family-run site on a farm in the Peak District National Park
  • Far-reaching views 25 minutes' drive from Buxton and Bakewell
  • Friendly staff; cosy, dog-friendly country pub 10 minutes' walk
There's a warm welcome all around at Hartington Hills, a farm site with helpful, friendly owners on hand. This family-run site is just under two miles from the Derbyshire village of Hartington, where there are several pubs and a few places to grab coffee. The farm is in the Peak District National Park, so it's in an excellent spot for those who want to set out on walking or cycling trails; cast your gaze a little wider and you can also easily hit stately homes, museums, activity centres and caves within half an hour’s drive. Buxton and Bakewell are both 25 minutes' drive away, and it may not have escaped the kids’ notice that the Alton Towers theme park just happens to be about half an hour's drive away… The site’s facilities include a launderette and modern bathrooms with underfloor heating, hot showers and a large wetroom for guests with reduced mobility or families hosing down wriggly kids. There is also a dedicated space for canines to let off steam.

What customers say

Spacious pitches, top-notch loos. Staff are brill, it's peaceful & the countryside is ace for walks. Shop's handy. Mostly faultless, bar a bit of iffy WiFi & some wonky pitches. Highly recommended, many keen to come back.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Super campsite - relatively small site, helpful and pleasant staff, very nice facilities (with enough showers and toilets for the size of site), everything spic-and-span, on-site shop for the basics, 10 mins walk to a decent pub. Good sized hardstanding pitches are fully serviced and very well maintained.

Disliked The weather wasn't great!

See the world from above by crossing the treetop trails at Go Ape, 25 minutes away, or from even further above with a ride on the Heights of Abraham cable car, half an hour away. Keeping your feet firmly on the ground, there are smart stately homes to explore at Haddon Hall, half an hour away, Sudbury Hall (home to the National Trust Museum of Childhood), 40 minutes away, and the excellent Chatsworth Estate, half an hour away. If you’re up for riding hair-raising rollercoasters, it’s half an hour's drive to Alton Towers theme park; for a more relaxing ride, check out the steam trains at Churnet Valley Railway, 20 minutes away.
