The campsite had amazing views over Blencathra, which was wonderful to wake up to. The facilities were very clean and the site was very pretty with twinkly lights around the reception, with excellent amenities i.e. communal room with kettle and microwave. I was very impressed that there was a hairdryer in the ladies toilets/showers. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. There was a great pub just a short walk away which did amazing food. We had a wonderful weekend and we will definitely return.

The toilet block was too small for the size of the site. Not cleaned regularly enough.
No information given on arrival.
The noisy dog next door that continually barked. We were told they were leaving the next day when we asked if they could speak to the owner.
WiFi only in communal room.
Pitches not level.
Road noise.

Mark and team at Gill Head Farm extended such a warm & accomodating welcome to us, as we camped to visit friends nearby.
We had a beautiful spot overlooking Blencathra & stunning scenery.
We will definitely return another time.

Toilet facilities were nice and clean, the play area for the kids was handy when going to do the washing up. The communal room was a newn for me, never been on a site that had one let alone to be as nice and lovely as this.
The ground was good, pegs went in rather easily compared to some other sites I've stayed at, nice and levelt too.
Location was handy, not too long a drive into Keswick and just a little further down the road to go ape. The views are lovely too. Definitely would recommend.

Clean and tidy. Convenient location.

Too close to A66, quite noisy

First time going to Gill head Farm and we loved it. We chose the riverside option and it was absolutely beautiful. Staff were very friendly and plenty of facilities as well. Campsite clean and well maintained. Being able to hire a fire pit was a nice touch and our 5 year old loved it. We will definitely be back and would recommend.

It is very close to the A66 and can hear traffic.

Lovely campsite with a lot of space and really good amenities . A on site shop and a communal room with toaster , microwave and kettle plus fridge and freezer lovely showers and toilet block very clean . Good washing room with dryer and washer. I pitched in the field where you had amazing views of the mountains the campsite is very good value for money and one of my favourites in really good location for visiting Ulswater and all the aira force falls and Gowbarrow Fell and park

Lovely campsite with fantastic views. Great communal area with fridge, freezer,kettle, toaster, TV, sofas and tables. They even had a pizza night while we were there which was cooked fresh onsite and tasted lovely.

The only issue we had was the lack of disabled facilities.

Plenty of space to pitch the tent with a choice of fields. Several picnic tables around for use and the facilities were top notch.

A lovely communal room with sofa, table, chairs, kettle, microwave, fridge and freezer was a major plus.

Lots of washing up areas, a laundry room, several toilets and showers which were always immaculate.

Lovely family feel to the place and would recommend it to anyone looking to camp.

The weather!

I like the fact that the site has good amenities on the main campsite,the showers and toilets are clean,the showers are nice and hot,there is an area to cook under cover as well as a washing area,TV room, launderette.

I disliked the camping area at the riverside.
This is because there is a steep path that leads down to the 2 fields at the riverside.
At the top of this path,there is a wooden post in the middle of the path stating that you cannot drive down the path which makes it very awkward because you have to carry all your equipment down the hill.
What would be better is if they moved the post to the bottom of the path allowing you to reverse to the bottom, making it easier to load and unload.
I also dislike this field as it is very uneven and on a gradient.
As this is a working farm,I would think that they would have no problem leveling this field with there on site tractor.
The mobile toilet block located very close to the riverside fields have a very pungent unpleasant chemical smell to them,there is no hot water either.
