Powered grass campsite
Liked Quiet site (in late May) with some lovely animals in the big pen.
Disliked The climb to the facilities (I have a damaged knee). I ordered breakfast but they didn't write my order down - and yes, I speak French.

Liked Big and lots of facilities. A bit care-worn but that was charming rather than annoying. The restaurant was good. Reasonably handy for the bus into the city.

Liked Very convenient location, close to beaches and the Praia As Catedrais. We ate in the restaurant, which was very friendly and with good food.
Disliked The pitches were a little bit tight, but as ours was a campervan pitch I guess that is what you'd expect.

Liked Generous pitches in groups of 4-5. The cafeteria was closed but the hotel bar was excellent. There is fresh running spring water on site. Very convenient for the local shops and restaurants.

Power optional grass and earth RV campsite
Liked This was one of about 8 stops on my trip. This site had a very laid back atmosphere, so much so that I couldn't find reception and the site manager appeared from nowhere to check me in. The site is quirky, but the facilities are good and clean. The bar/restaurant was fine, although the menu was quite basic. The cachopa I ate was enormous!
Disliked The cafe didn't open as promised in the morning, so I missed my coffee. It's a car-ride to the city.

Liked This was one of about 8 stops I made. It was one of the better ones. I liked the easy check-in, free choice of pitch, availability of pitches, and the clean facilities. Access to the city by bus was simple.

Liked Les Acacias is a charming, quiet and typically French site. It has a boules area, a small shop and the facilities are clean and well maintained. This was my/our fourth stay. It is handy for the cycle track which goes along the coast. It's handy fir Vieux Boucau with its street markets and Messanges with its nice eateries.
Disliked Nothing.

Liked As ever, we enjoyed this site. The facilities are good. The bar and little supermarket are good too. The views from the site are impressive. Having a bus terminate at the site is excellent.
Disliked They really should have soap in the loos. When my wife and her sister tried to check in they were shooed away.

Liked Our third stop here. It's a lovely campsite with a real buzz. A bit of a 1970s feel to it, but it's clean and well maintained.
The shop and restaurant are excellent, and the site has a good bar.
The beach is a 5 minute walk, though better at low tide.
Handy for Bilbao and Santander.
Disliked Nothing...

Llanes, Asturias, Spain
Power optional grass RV campsite
Liked We'd dropped the kids at the airport the day we arrived here.
It's a quirky campsite in all respects. Little pitches perched on the hillside for surfers.
Bigger pitches in the river valley for tourers and long-stay.
They park your caravan for you - you will soon see why.
Toilet blocks built into the cliff face with rock walls!
Mostly the clientele is Spanish, but there were kids and adults there from several countries.
If you like the busy Cornish surf sites you'll love this one.
The shop sells a few essentials, but don't expect it to be like Waitrose! You can eat in the cafeteria, but it's pretty basic.
Walk to nearly Pendueles to go to the tiny but well stocked supermarket or to get the bus to Llanes. Also walk to the Buffones...
Disliked It was a bit pricey, when they added the cost of an empty tent we used for storage. The pitch was too small for our sheltaPod.

Liked The site is small and sheltered. It's a mixture of cabins and touring pitches.
The cafe and shop are very good, because they server the village and passing pilgrims as well as campers.
The shower blocks are old(ish) but very well maintained.
The kids liked the upstairs games room.
The nature of the site and the popularity of the cafe mean the adults are in the bar till late - a really good buzz. The kids play late too, but it is Spain, so you expect late nights.
It's a 15 minute but very pretty walk to the beach, and a walk round the village is a must.
Disliked Nothing - it was perfect.

Liked Handy when you arrive two hours late into Santander, as we did.
We only stayed a couple of nights but we were very impressed with the almost new toilet blocks which were kept very clean.
The higher pitches are well sheltered (but see dislikes).
The site had a reasonable cafe and shop. The neighbouring Mirador Hotel did a file evening meal.
The beach was only a minute's walk away, and it's one which doesn't completely submerge at high tide.
Disliked The way a freak gust of wind scooped round the rock face behind our van and broke our awning - though I can't blame the site for this. It damaged the heavyweight awnings on the seafront bar too!
