Smaller, friendly site. Quiet location, handy enough for Buxton and into the Peaks. Level pitch.

    Disliked:

Could possibly do with a quick makeover but everyone on site seemed happy enough.

Nice wooded site. No clear lines of site because of all the trees. It made for a very rural feel.

    Disliked:

Very expensive for what we expected. The extra large pitch we opted (and paid) for turned out to be not so much! We were squeezed between very many close-set trees. Ours is a 2m (8’) wide German Van and we could only just fit our small awning (also extra) onto the side of the van. We had an electric hook up (extra) which was roughly in the same vicinity as or caravan but none of the pitches were vey clearly marked what with all the trees being in the way. Toilet block was rudimentary. My 6’6 husband couldn’t fit into the shower as being in an Anderson-shelter shaped building the slope on the ceiling was too low. I had a 6 minute shower (£1) with a two-minute waiting time before the water started. The last time I remember feeding coins to get a shower on a campsite was the late 70’s/early 80’s. Had I wanted a longer shower, I would have had to step out of the cubicle and poke another coin into the slot, and wait another two minutes for the water to recommence.
All in all a lovely site if you are a) camping in a tent and b) very young with absolutely no expectations of what the sort of money we paid can get you elsewhere. We definitely won’t be back but if you do go, the owner is lovely and very friendly. Very, very expensive and way below our expectations.

We liked the wooded copse, where we pitched. When we arrived, we had a choice of pitches, and the one we chose, suited us very well.

The welcome was very friendly and informative. We really liked the site, which was perfect for our first stay in Derbyshire.

    Disliked:

The shower hut was fine, although the controls on the showers were not working as well as they could, but even so, the showers worked well. The basins were fine, and toilets great. The shower pod was very clean.

We did not see any washing machine to use, and there were only two toilets for females, and two for males. This was not a problem, but could have been.

As a child I experienced camping once and it was a ‘one night’ affair. So when my partner suggested we go camping (a first in our relationship) I was a little unsure if I would enjoy the encounter and as I’m disabled I hoped I would be ok.

What can I say, upon reaching the site we were blown away with how lovely it was. The owner was friendly and welcoming. We were given all the information we needed and went off to put the tent up. The pitch we got was gorgeous and perfect. The amenities were beautifully kept.

We stayed one night and I can’t tell you how amazing it was, I’m a convert and can’t wait to stay there again.

Absolutely perfect. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.
