Liked: The pitches are level and there is are lovely views. We could hike straight from the site. The showers were lovely and hot and the toilets clean. Plenty of space and friendly helpful staff who were good at asking some noisy people to be quiet. A great site and I would happily stay there again.
Disliked: I would've liked somewhere to plug in a hairdryer and also a freezer for ice packs. Otherwise great.
Will definitely be back to bring Maud the cattle dog to see Joe !

Liked: Lovely camping field with incredible view of Catbells. Great loos and showers. Peaceful site. We really enjoyed our stay. Great if you’re trying to get away from the razzmatazz of a large campsite.
Disliked: Another washing up sink would be handy

Access to good hiking routes.
Walking distance to Keswick (30 mins or so).
Good basic campsite. Facilities ideal.
Nothing to dislike.
The guys running it (presume owners) very nice.

Liked: The location , it's beautiful. The friendly welcome. The facilities we were told ( previous reviews) were basic, but they were clean and worked so didn't need anything more. The showers were super hot with good pressure too. We even had sunshine. I'd recommend taking insect repellent as the midges joined us on an evening 😜

Liked: Huge site with lots of space. Toilets were very clean and cleaned regularly by staff. The showers seemed brand new, were very clean and had lovely hot water. We camped on the left hand side of the field by the river and experienced a lot of mosquitoes. It may be best to camp on the right hand side further from the river. There is no wifi but we had perfect signal on the field, (and we have pretty rubbish old phones!).
All of the staff were very helpful and lovely to talk to, couldn’t do enough for us. Their Labrador Poppy got on great with our Chihuahua Jessie, and made her feel at ease on her first ever camping trip!
The site is a short drive from Keswick for shopping and Derwentwater for walking and boat trips.
We had a lovely time and would love to come back next year!

This warm wet weather does seem to have brought a few more unwanted bugs this year! Fires and Citronella are the way forward this year it seems!
