  • To preserve the natural peace and quiet, Dark Ridge HideOut is an adults only campground for those who want to enjoy the unspoiled peaceful sounds of nature on 20 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.
  • Easy access and lots of space between RV sites and between tent sites, where the 3500 foot elevation and clean air and no light polution makes for great stargazing and you really can see the Milky Way.
  • Go on an adventure to the nearby Compression Falls (45ft high) and Twisting Falls in Cherokee National Forest by a short 2 mile road then a half mile trail. Also, the Elk River Falls (65 ft high) is a 14 mile drive, or 6 mile hike.
Dark Ridge HideOut is on all 20 acres where I grew up on the family farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the backside of the Beech Mt Ski Resort. On Dark Ridge Rd, it is one mile from the Tennessee line at 3000 to 3500 ft elevation surrounded by a mountain with the top at 4000 ft. Wifi covers the RV park and tent sites 1,2, & 3. The RV sites are full hook up with no RV size restriction, but the drive in with a large RV on these mountain roads can be a bit intimidating for the inexperienced. There is a centrally located shower and toilet for he tent sites, and each site has a picnic table, fire pit, and charcoal grill. All sites are easily accessible with any vehicle and supports up to 6 guests. All RV and tent sites are 100 to 200 feet apart. Firewood and magic fire packs are available for purchase at the park. A stream crosses the park between the RV park and tent sites. My home and office is on the property accessed by a driveway across to the tent sites. There is also two RV rental units with full accommodations. Pet must be kept on leash and picked up after. You will be free to hike and explore any part of my property except the house and outbuildings. The pond’s are full of Rainbow Trout and BlueGill fish that are like pets you can feed the fish but no fishing. The closest towns are; Beech Mountain at 8 miles, Elk Park NC 8.5 miles, Banner Elk NC 9 miles, Newland NC 13 miles, Roan Mountain TN 14 miles, Boone NC 21 miles, Hampton TN 23 miles, Elizabethton TN 28 miles, and Spruce Pine NC 30 miles. The two nearest grocery stores; Ingals in Newland, and Food Lion in Sugar Mountain, are both 13.5 miles.
