Lake Eufaula Campground is located on Chewalla Creek that feeds into Lake Eufaula: it is a great stopping point for overnight guests and an attractive destination for fishing and exploring the community of Eufaula. The fishing ponds and hiking trail are located to the west of the campground in an area known as Nine Ponds Retreat and Event Center. No fishing license is required for fishing in the ponds but a license is require for fishing in the creek and the main lake. The site itself has a swimming pool and mini golf. For added fun, campfires are allowed and there is free wifi throughout. The shady camping area features water points and is within close walking distance to the pool and the creek. Information on local birds in the area and the Alabama Scenic River Trail is available at the campground office. There is also a local garden onsite and guests are welcome to harvest vegetables for use during their stay.

Local attractions

Eufaula features a tour of historic homes, such as Fendell Hall and Shorter Mansion, which are open daily for tours. The community features many historic churches and antique shops which reflect local history. There are also several restaurants and local shops, as well as a golf course which is open to the public. Guests will be staying close to the Eufaula Federal Wildlife Refuge and Providence Canyon, Georgia. Both locations are great for day hiking. There is also a city hiking and biking trail close by. Lake Eufaula is over 30 miles in length and home to over 70 fishing tournaments per year. The lake is part of the Alabama Scenic River trail which is ideal for canoe and kayaking. Many birds - especially water birds live in the area year round.
