The Vision: To get back to nature Grins & Pickin’s CampFarm was created to share the outdoors with others. Growing food, flower gardening, camping, fishing, hiking & practicing homesteading is what we like to do. And we like sharing these activities with others. We have created a fun place for your family, including your dog!, to visit, play outside & stay the night outside if you choose. With woods to hike & a creek to explore. Wildlife to see. And a pond to catch & release bluegill. A place to relax & get away from all the screens. A place to get back to nature. A place where the spirits of the trees wrap you peacefully safe. The CampFarm caters to primitive camping but we do have a few campsites for small rv's (with no available hookups) in the front as we prefer to hear the frogs & owls instead of the sound of generators. There is no electricity at the extra-large campsites & you'll need to bring in your own water. We do offer potable water for a fair price. There is a parking lot for very large rvs & busses. Our amenities are nature based. The fields were once planted with soybeans & over time, the land has intentionally been rewilded to what it was naturally before farmland. A prairie garden trail was carved out, a pollinator maze holds bird houses & milkweed for the monarchs, bat houses were built by the Boy Scouts & the vernal pools saved from 4 wheels, a frog pool gives the frogs a home. Wildlife has returned. Wildflowers have returned. The food gardens will never know chemicals. At dark clear sky times, we can see the Milky Way, the Perseids, fireballs & even the Northern Lights. We offer fair prices on firewood, the best tasting duck & chicken eggs, fresh produce usually in August, farm grown tea blends, jewelweed oil & some preserved food like pear chutney. The speed limit is 5 mph as soon as you enter the property. The gravel driveway could kick up gravel. Kids and dogs walk the property. Chickens run loose & we home feral cats. No glass is allowed, period. People and dogs like to walk barefoot here & get grounded. And we dislike having to pay for a flat tire. During heavy rains, you may have to hoof it into camp. And the creek turns into a churning river with currents that become uncrossable into the woods. .
