It's free, quick and easy!
- Dog-friendly site right by the sea and a sandy beach
- In the beach resort of Xeraco, a 20-minute drive from Gandia
- Bar, restaurant and play area
Beach buffs can have sand between their toes within a very short stroll of Camping San Vicente near Gandia, set right on the seafront in the beach resort of Xeraco and in a Valencian climate that's gentle all year round.
Given that tiptop location, you might easily elect simply to spend your days trotting back and forth from the sands, scooting back to site when the sun reaches its peak for a shaded siesta under the trees, or for eats and drinks at the bar and restaurant. However, if you're the sort that likes to set your sights a little further, you can get to gorgeous little Gandia with a drive of 20 minutes or beyond to Benidorm and the Terra Mitica theme park, an hour away. Splash time can be had swooshing down the slides at a waterpark half an hour away or hiring watersports kit along the beach.
All members of the travelling party are looked after here: there's a playground for the small sorts to scamper around, and a pets area where any hounds on holiday can do likewise. Laundry service is available and there's also a washing-up area and a toilet and shower block with hot running water.
A supermarket and more cafés and restaurants are within a few minutes' stroll, as are plenty of places to pick up those all-important ice creams.

Local attractions
Horse riding and many a hiking trail are in the surrounding area, and watersports and fishing are both available nearby. The beaches, bars and nightclubs of seaside resort Gandia are 20 minutes' drive away.
The port city of Valencia (55 minutes) is a rightly famed spot on this part of Spanish coast and needs at least a couple of days even for a quick sightseeing stop. Top picks include the Turia Gardens, used by locals for skateboarding, cycling and running; bikes are available for hire if you want to pedal around too.
See also Valencia's main market, with over a thousand food stalls, and Valencia Cathedral, dating back to Roman times and believed to be the site of a former temple to the goddess Diana. The Oceanografico aquarium, another popular Valencian place, is the biggest in Europe.
Bioparc Valencia is a council-maintained zoo replicating a savannah and forest eco-system with African animals including meerkats, lions, hippos and gorillas – go see.
If you're a paella fan, take a day around the lake of Albufera, part of a watery national park and a centre for paella rice production.
