Planning to do Madrid in a motorhome? Here's an easy way to do it, and experience some lovely rural peace into the bargain as well: park up at Complejo La Cigüeña, just outside the town of Arganda del Rey and about 15 miles from the centre of the Spanish capital. The dog-friendly pitches here are spacious and quiet, and they’re designed especially for motorhomes, with electric and water connections for each pitch as well as a shared water drainage area. Showers and toilets are also provided, along with a wifi connection to help you plan your travels around the area. So that's the essentials covered – but there's more to this site than just the basics. It’s also a place where you can rent electric bikes to help you get around easily, take swims in the open-air pool (open during high season only) and grab easy meals or drinks at the restaurant/cafeteria, which has a large terrace to help you make the most of those summer evenings. Getting into Madrid should be straightforward, as there are good connections via both metro and bus nearby. Also close by are the shopping centre and outlet shops in Rivas-Vaciamadrid, the towns of Chinchón and Aranjuez and Parque Warner Madrid. Madrid’s Barajas airport is about a half-hour drive away, making this a handy choice for a first stop if you've hired your vehicle there.

Liked Toilets were clean.

Disliked We were the only people on the site for the 4 nights we stayed there. Couldn't park on pitch because it was waterlogged so we parked in the roadway. Electric supply very weak and the site showed no signs of maintenance. Dump point and grey waste area very dirty and obviously hadn't been cleaned recently. Public transport to Madrid is useless so be prepared to pay for taxis. Wouldn't stay here again.

Liked Easy to get to with specific separate area for motorhomes- wooded/ earth pitch. Electricity , but water only seemed to be central. Service area was very good. Staff at reception welcoming. Toilets clean, no smell.

Disliked We used our own facilities. Shower rooms not heated & no separation between shower & clothes. Not good. No lights up steps to get to wash rooms. Exit ramp blocked by big tree branches- Just went out same as came in instead.

Disliked Grumpy restaurant manager refused to serve us any food or drink inside or outside because we had our small dog and we couldn’t speak much Spanish

Liked Nice location close to Madrid.
Reasonably quiet and peaceful.
Level grass pitches. No one there when we arrived.
Good overnight stop.
Friendly staff.

Disliked Toilet lights kept going off. Needs refurbishment.
Showers a bit of a disgrace. Shower doors didn't stop the water running out. Towel and clothes hangers coming off the walls.
Broken linoleum floor covering. Fly's and mosquito everywhere.
Lots of wasps on the sight and flys that make sure you can't eat outside.
I wouldn't stop there again.

Liked High quality of the Caravan pitches

Disliked No exterior lights at the Caravan bathrooms, no hot water in the men’s shower, no toilet paper in the men’s WC. You could not order a beer or a dessert in the restaurant without making an online reservation (even though there were scarcely any patrons in the restaurant at the time!). Location wasn’t great either.

Whether you're a first-timer or a frequent visitor, there’s always something for you to do in Madrid.
