This is a high-up site… Camping La Cota north of León is at an altitude of 1,060 metres, for stays, hikes and biking trails at heady heights, with heaps more available at the Picos de Europa mountain range under an hour away. Cota's facilities include an outdoor pool open in high season, a playground, a sports court and a restaurant doubling as a meet-up point for guests. Events and activities like bingo nights, karaoke and film screenings are arranged by the team in the summer months. For amenities, Camping La Cota has a spacious toilet block with free hot showers and disabled access; there's also a laundry room and a washing-up corner.

Great location near train & pub, lovely countryside. However, site's dated, many long-term residents. Facilities criticized as old, lacking hot water, with one report of tepid water after a long wait. Not ideal for families with young kids.

Liked La piscina está bastante bien. No es muy grande pero suficiente para el aforo del camping. Lo que hace que no esté helada como otras mas amplias.

El año pasado fuimos por las mismas fechas y no había ningún mosquito. Lo cual es un plus bastante grande

Por eso mismo y por la piscina lo elegimos ya un par de años.
Las tarifas del camping están bien también, aún así no quita que el camping necesite en todos los ámbitos una renovación y limpieza exhaustiva.

La zona de fregaderos y lavadero está bien también.

Hay pequeñas fuentes de agua por todo el camping alrededor de las parcelas.

El ambiente es familiar, mucha gente fija, como una pequeña familia aparte de la gente ocasional,. Hay sitio para todos

Disliked Cuando llegamos con la reserva hecha a través de pitchup, me quisieron cobrar más de lo estipulado, ya que en pitchup incluye un coche y en el camping esa tarifa se cobra a parte. Se lo enseñé en el movil y la misma chica de la recepción no tenía conocimiento del contenido de la web.
Al final, lógicamente pagamos lo estipulado en la reserva, pero fue bastante incómodo me imagino que para ambas partes.


Las instalaciones de baños, y sobre todo las duchas necesitan bastante más limpieza y más a menudo a la vez que mantenimiento. Tampoco es de recibo pasar los wc con la misma fregona que las duchas.

La piscina también necesita un par de repasos diarios ya que hay bichos flotando, no se si será función del socorrista pero no tiene intención alguna de moverse de la silla y levantar la cabeza del móvil. Hecho que por otro lado a nadie parece importarle, la verdad.
Los acabó limpiando con la red un niño alojado en el camping.

Es una pena ya que el entorno y el camping en sí tiene bastante potencial.

Con mejorar sobretodo los baños ganaría muchísimos puntos.

Liked Het feit dat er plaats was en de locatie.

Disliked De algehele shabby staat van de camping. De informatie over de camping stemde totaal niet overeen met de realiteit. De beloofde voorzieningen (zoals een vriezer voor onze koelelementen) waren er niet. De wasruimtes en toiletten waren vies en werden nauwelijks schoongemaakt. Het enige “bewijs” daarvan was een vieze mop in de hoek en een emmer met goor water. Het stonk er naar sigaretten en uitwerpselen.

Liked de plek, het zwembad en de bakker die dagelijks langskomt. Prima om een keer te overnachten maar verder......

Disliked het feit dat het eigenlijk geen camping is voor toeristen, het is eigenlijk een grote Spaanse familie die samen op deze camping verblijft en uitsluitend Spaans spreekt.

Liked La tranquilidad y el clima para poder dormir.

Disliked No coinciden las fotos de la reserva con la realidad. No sabes la parcela que te ha tocado donde empieza ni dónde acaba , muy pegados con los vecinos. La regulación del agua en las duchas deficiente.

No hot water. Host told us that it took a long time for hot water to come through and she demonstrated in a shower. She kept pressing the tap for a good 5 minutes before it became vaguely warm. Problem would be that you have to stand in a cold shower before the water warmed up. She used the end of a long mop handle.
There were a large number of what appeared to be permanent pitches occupied by touring caravans with attached shed and awnings.

Local attractions

The hiking and strolling trails around Camping La Cota lead to the likes of the Church of San Froilán in Lugo, and to the Nocedo waterfall, flowing from a tight gorge to a drop of 25 metres. Outdoor enthusiasts, cavers, climbers and nature spotters should travel the hour to the Picos de Europa mountain range, an area of three massifs, limestone rock, peaks and climbs including the Naranjo de Bulnes or Picu Urriellu, one of the best-known climbs in the country. The range has some of the world's deepest caves such as the Torca del Cerro and the Sima de la Cornisa; explorations are still regularly held. Twelve kilometres from the site are the 17 rooms of exhibits and displays of the Museo de la Fauna Salvaje wildlife museum. The Steel and Ironworks Museum is 20km away.
