What might you sink your teeth into at Monte das Louzeiras, near the Spanish border between Seville and Serpa? Wine, harvested by the site from the vineyard next to the olive grove with 300-year-old trees… petiscos (local snacks)… sunset drinks… a barbecue? When it comes to scenery, the set-up is just as tasty, with a 40-hectare olive grove in the Serra Adiça and animals like sheep, horses, dogs, cats, geese, chickens, peacocks and an ostrich on the farm. The hosts Ana Luisa, Marc and VIP resident Dunga the ostrich live on the farm. They produce wine in amphorae and oak barrels, but their store stocks more besides wine: olive oil, piri piri, honeys, vinegars, flavoured salts and oils, and cosmetic products made from olive oil. It’s a family business with Swiss and Portuguese roots – and they’re very welcoming. There’s a good slice of nature at Monte das Louzeiras. In the garden, the hosts can provide breakfast, petiscos or even a barbecue. There’s a spacious patio surrounded by orange-toned trees, where they’ll be happy to serve you their wines and other drinks at sunset. And you'll be able to use the outdoor pool for a cooling dip too. When it comes to sampling local produce, you’ve got two main choices: olive oil and wine-tasting in the site’s adega or heading out on the Alentejo Wine Route. For snacks, the options are those served on site or a café in the little village of Vale de Vargo, 35 minutes’ walk away. Collect any groceries you need from the supermarket 10 minutes’ drive away, and then make your way to Serpa, 20 minutes’ drive away. This small town has cultural events and museums, plus it’s considered to be the capital of Cante Alentejano, a UNESCO-listed traditional Portuguese music genre.

Liked Wunderschöner Platz, sehr freundlicher Empfang. Sehr sympathische, hilfsbereite und herzliche Gastgeber. Ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt. Viele Möglichkeiten zum wandern. Sehr saubere und gemütliche Anlage. Danke für diese schöne Zeit, ich werde wieder kommen.

Liked De vriendelijke ontvangst en rondleiding over de boerderij, met uitleg over camping, wijn maken en olijfoogst.
Lekkere en warme verblijfsruimte met gezellige stoelen, houtkachel , eetgelegenheid en verkoop van spullen die de boerderij produceert: allerlei soorten wijn, honing, olijfolie, etc.
Goede faciliteiten

Disliked Jammer dat we niet in de olijfboomgaard konden kamperen maar dat kwam omdat het enkele voor we kwamen flink geregend had.

Bijzonder vriendelijke eigenaren en een geweldige gastvrijheid. Omgeving is prachtig, gewoon een klein paradijs in Portugal. Zijn een week langer dan gepland gebleven. Een echte aanrader!

A simpatia do Marc,Ana e Harrold foi estraordinario e o serviço e estadia igual.Um sítio onde na realidade se consegue carregar as baterias com o acompanhamento de alguns animais desde gatos, avestruzes, Pavões, Gansos, cavalos e jumentos e claro a linda cadela Luna que nos acompanhava e nos guiava pelo espaço.Se houvesse avaliação máxima eu daria 1 a mais.Obrigado

Liked De hartelijke ontvangst, de gemoedelijke sfeer, zeer verzorgde tuin met hangmatten en overal zitplaatsen.

Zelf een mooie plek onder de olijfbomen uitzoeken, de bar, de wijnen en de shop.

Het was voor ons een onvergetelijke ervaring. Zou het iedereen aanbevelen.

Disliked In de buurt is niet zoveel te beleven. Voor ons was het perfect om tot rust te komen !

Liked Well what can I say about this site !! Probably the most friendly we’ve ever stayed on , you must bear in mind this is a working farm but you are free to wander .
Evening drinks at the bar is just like being with family wine , olive oil and homemade salts excellent.

Liked Sehr schönes und riesiges Areal mit freilaufenden Katzen, Pfauen und einen lieben Hund. Die Besitzer Marc und Ana Luisa, ihr sehr freundliches Personal sind sehr sympathisch und wir haben uns von Anfang an sehr gut verstanden.
Sanitär sauber. Platz unter den Olivenbäumen sehr idyllisch. Unsere Kinder wurden mit eingespannt beim Tiere füttern. Barbeque, Weinproben und Pool alles was man braucht.

Disliked Die Hähne haben Nachts Alarm gemacht. Mit Ohropax ist es aber okay.

Local attractions

Just because you’re in landlocked Beja doesn’t mean that there are no water activities… the Alqueva (45 minutes’ drive) is the largest dam in western Europe, and there’s more than one way to take in the landscape. Take to the water with a canoe, paddleboard or boat or cruise around the shore on walking and mountain biking trails past castles. Along the route is Luz (an hour), a village that originally sank beneath the dam before being relocated, and the medieval houses of Monsaraz (an hour and five minutes). The area around the lake is a popular patch for stargazers; in Alentejo, the stars are often very vivid. In the way of water, pretty Pulo do Lobo (50 minutes) – which means ‘wolf’s leap’ in Portuguese – is another gorgeous spot. On the river Guadiana, the gorge has the tallest waterfall in south Portugal. Take a picnic trek or grab a bite to eat in the local villages.
