Scenic views and stylish accommodation come together to make one splendid place to stay at Arrabia Glamping – this smart glamping site in Raiva, in the very north of the Aveiro region, is surrounded by mountains and has stunning views over the Douro river. This site is owned by Luís, who was born and raised very close by and then headed off to travel the world while studying hospitality and working on cruise ships. When the opportunity to buy this farm came up, Luís decided it was time to return home and set up his own business. What you see here now is crafted by a deep love for the area and years of experience working in hospitality, with the accommodation – and in fact the whole site – designed to provide quiet luxury while preserving the natural environment and making the most of the gorgeous views. The accommodation units have been designed to have the comforts of a boutique hotel room and strategically placed in peaceful and pretty spots around the site surrounded by pine, olive, cork and fruit trees. You’ll probably feel your shoulders drop as soon as you arrive on site, but if you need a little extra help to relax you can sign up for yoga classes and massages on site (extra charge), or just take a dip in the pool and then stretch out on a sun lounger. All guests will have access to kitchen facilities and a barbecue area on site; pick up all the bits you need in Castelo de Paiva (10 minutes’ drive away) or stick around there to find a local restaurant or café.

Local attractions

Start getting to know your surroundings with a walk or bike ride nearby – there are electric and mountain bikes to rent on site and Luís and team can point you towards some local walking or bike trails to take you to some of the best local views (perhaps visiting the São Domingos viewpoint, four kilometres away, or heading to the wooden walkways of Passadiços do Paiva, half an hour’s drive away). Of course, the Douro valley is well known for its wine, and there are several wineries you can drop into if you’re walking/biking through the vineyards. River cruises and canoe trips are available locally as well, or you can soak up some scenery while relaxing on the river beach in Lomba (15 minutes’ drive). For a full day out, make your way to Porto (45 minutes) to cross the Dom Luís bridge, see the Clérigos Tower, visit the port cellars and enjoy strolls along the riverbanks and through the colourful tile-clad streets.

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 7 day(s) of arrival.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
