An Amsterdam break… but without the noise, crowds and expense that come with city centre stays? If that sounds like quite the combo, take a look at EuroParcs Het Amsterdamse Bos, a peaceful North Holland site surrounded by woodland, canals and open spaces in the 2,500-acre Amsterdam Forest, 10 minutes’ drive from Amstelveen. Although you might not guess it from the gorgeous green surrounds (which lend themselves well to strolls, swims, bike rides and canoe trips), the site is just eight kilometres from Amsterdam’s city centre. Arguably the best way to get there (and to blend in with the locals) is to hire bikes on site and pedal off along a cycle lane through the Vondelpark to the city’s central attractions in around half an hour or so. For those who prefer to save their muscle power for meandering around museums, it’s also easy to ride into the centre via public transport – a bus stop is just outside the site, and there’s a metro station within walking distance as well. Handily, there’s also a direct bus to Schiphol airport (around 20 minutes away) for easy getaways by air or connecting with trains to other Dutch cities. Back at base, lots of essential facilities are sorted, including a shop and a launderette; there’s also a spacious bathroom block with plenty of toilets and showers.

Liked Schöner Stellplatz in guter Größe. Am Platz Stromanschluss und eine Wasserstelle für 2 Plätze. Im Toilettenhaus ausreichend Toiletten, Duschen, Waschbecken, Spülbecken. Weiß natürlich nicht wie es ausschaut, wenn der hintere jetzt leere Platz auch noch voll Camper steht. Das Toilettenhaus wurde täglich gut gereinigt. Im Geschäft gibt es alles Notwendige und das Personal war freundlich. Es sind so 14 -16 Kilometer mit dem Fahrrad in die Stadt. Zu Anfang ein sehr schöner Radweg durch Wald und Park.

Disliked Die Nähe zum Flughafen Schiphol.

Disliked Duschgebäude 1 ohne Heizung (Dezember). Die Toiletten und Duschen sind ziemlich abgewrackt. Der Platz ist lieblos zusammengestellt, die Einfahrt hat einen sehr großen Hügel, so dass Wohnmobile aufliegen.

Liked Excelente estadía, un lugar hermoso, muy amplio los terrenos para las autocaravanas, con luz propia y una linda vista al lago. Los baños impecables, todo perfecto para un gran descanso. El personal muy amable y recomiendo tomar bicicletas para paseo por Amsterdam, fué la mejor opción.

Liked *De hulp die de nachtwaker gaf de laatste avond zodat ik met mijn auto het terrein op kon en de volgende ochtend om 6 uur mijn tent direct in de auto kon doen
*Dat ik me kon wassen in een apart hokje en niet zichtbaar voor de hele camping in de grote wasruimte.

Disliked Dat ik te laat was voor de receptie - dacht dat die tot 6 uur open was en dus niet gesloten om 17.45 - en dus geen muntjes voor de douche had .

Liked The look of it from the beginning

Disliked The kids walking past our motorhome screaming and yelling for hours from as early as 7am to as late as midnight x didn’t like the cars and motorcycles speeding pass not keeping to the speed limit. Didn’t like using the toilet and shower with kids constantly running in and out. Maybe it should be noted how loud the plane noise is. Would not be back due to disrespect shown to us

Well, depending on your interests, there’s (deep breath…) the Rijksmuseum, the Rembrandt Museum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Anne Frank House, the Heineken Experience, canal boat trips, Amsterdam Zoo, the houseboat museum – plus of course stacks of cafés, bars and clubs… best be planning several days (and nights) to take it all in. As enticing as it is, Amsterdam’s not the only attraction around these parts. Those seeking to tick off classic Dutch sights should aim for the Aalsmeer flower auction (10 minutes’ drive), snap windmill pics in Zaanse Schans (15 minutes) and take a tasty trip to the Alkmaar cheese market (35 minutes). If it’s time for a few breaths of sea air, venture to the fishing village of Volendam (35 minutes) to eat by the harbour while locals wander about in traditional dress, or head west to Zandvoort (25 minutes) for beach days, strolls in the sand dunes or watersports including paddleboarding and kitesurfing.
