Tucked into dense forest and surrounded by lush greenery, Ašmonai Campsite is a haven for nature lovers and adventure-seekers alike. Book a stay here and you can expect to sleep peacefully and wake up to the soothing sounds of birds or the rustling of leaves.
Five minutes’ walk from the pitches lies the calm Curonian Lagoon, an ideal spot with safe swimming for children; you can rent paddleboards on site to explore the lake’s shoreline, or go hiking around its periphery.
Back on site, there’s a hot tub for easing tired muscles and lolling around gazing up at the stars on clear nights. If you’re ready for more sociable activities, the site owner can organise poker nights for adult guests or treasure hunts for families to solve together.
On the facilities side of things, the campsite has fairly basic amenities including clean restrooms, showers and a cosy covered barbecue and picnic area for your alfresco feasts. If you need any provisions, Šilutė (20 minutes) has a couple of shops, and Kintai (15 minutes’ walk) has a sprinkling of takeaways and restaurants.

Local attractions
You could easily spend days by the side of the Curonian Lagoon (five minutes’ walk), swimming with the kids in calm, shallow water, hiking through forest or paddleboarding. Keen anglers will want to head for the Minija River or test their mettle at the carp pond on Lake Kintai (both 10 minutes’ drive)
In historic Klaipėda (45 minutes), follow the sculpture trail through the Old Town, visit the history museum and eat in restaurants along the Danė River Promenade. The town is gateway for the short ferry ride across to the Curonian Spit, where you can swim in the Baltic Sea off Smiltynės Beach (about an hour), cycle the Juodkrantė-Smiltynė bike path and clamber up ever-shifting sand dunes.
The pretty town of Šilute (20 minutes) has an appealing mix of Baroque-era and art nouveau architecture to check out, while the seaside resort of Palanga (55 minutes) is home of an impressive amber museum.
