A cluster of olive trees – splendid for shelter, splendid for scent, and certainly splendid as surrounds for guests staying at Camping degli Ulivi, in the small Sicily seaside village of Sferracavallo. The folk here have been welcoming guests to their site since 1979, honing their facilities along the way to ensure life is as laidback as can be. Hot showers, a launderette (with coin-operated washing machines) and accessible bathrooms take care of the essentials, and there’s also wifi to help you keep up with the world/pick your next day trip. Beyond that is plenty of space to chill out on the grass or at the covered communal area, which is stocked with vending machines for drinks and snacks to aid such proceedings. And why have guests been flocking to this place for 40-odd years? Well, that’s also partly down to the location: the beaches and trattorias of Sferracavallo are a few hundred metres away (sunbathing and a swim followed by a dinner of freshly-landed fish = holiday win). For jaunts further afield, it’s a short walk to the nearby bus stop for outings to the monuments and markets of Palermo (around a 35-minute drive south), and the site is next door to the wildlife-filled Capo Gallo Nature Reserve for hikes or sea-view strolls.

Ein kleiner Platz unter Oliven.
Ideal um ein Ausflug mit dem Zug nach Palermo zu machen.
Bademöglichkeiten sind nicht nicht wirklich möglich ,was uns persönlich auch nicht wichtig war. Würden jederzeit wieder kommen.

Liked Sehr freundlicher Empfang, trotz Enge wurde ein Plätzchen für uns gefunden. Wir hatten reserviert. Anfahrt über Autobahn oder auf Nebenstrecke, 1/2 Stunde vom Fährhafen entfernt. Geschickt zum Ankommen auf Sizilien.

Disliked Laut, weil mitten in der Stadt, Hundegebell von überall.

Disliked On n'a pas du tout aimé notre séjour au camping Degli Ulivi. On nous a donné une place juste à côté des toilettes, il y'avait une odeur horrible. Trop de bruit même pendant la nuit, le bruit des gens qui entraient et sortaient des toilettes.

Liked La location è comoda ed economica per chi arriva a Palermo e vuole visitare la zona fino a San Vito lo Capo rientrando ogni sera. A piedi raggiungi il lungomare di Sferracavallo. Non molto grande e le piazzole in agosto sono dimezzate di spazio per accogliere molte richieste (capibile). Nonostante la presenza di comitive di ragazzi francesi che facevano confusione e sporco nei bagni il personale teneva pulito ed interveniva soprattutto nelle ore notturne così da trovare pulito la mattina. La doccia dura 5 minuti con 50 centesimi e il getto è forte. C'è tutto il necessario e il personale è gentile e disponibile. Camping consigliabile e protetto. Tutto è andato poi bene.

Disliked Che all'arrivo ho dovuto sostare una notte prima di avere la mia piazzola prenotata il 25 luglio 2025 ed ho perso una giornata dedicata alla visita di Palermo....alla fine però il gestore si è impegnato per risolvere subito alle 8 la mattina dopo e mi ha praticato uno sconto sul primo giorno per il disagio senza che io lo chiedessi.
Attenzione a portare picchetti e martello resistenti che non entrano nel terreno.

Liked Camping agréable, très propre, calme et bien situé ( proche commerces, gare...). Le personnel est agréable et à l'écoute. Les emplacements pour tente sont bien ombragés. Le petit plus: un lieu convivial et très bien entretenu, ouvert gratuitement à tous, à l'abri du soleil et de la pluie met à disposition tables, chaises, distributeurs (café, eau, gâteaux...)coin lecture, et réfrigérateurs collectifs. De quoi se poser, se restaurer....

Start your Sicily explores with a saunter around Sferracavallo – there’s plenty of architecture to admire here, including two watchtowers constructed in the 14th and 15th centuries, and the 19th-century aristocratic Arezzo, Maggiore Amari and Palazzotto villas. And there’s the beach, of course: a mix of sandy parts and rocky corners, with a coral reef just off shore for those who fancy venturing out with a snorkel. Scuba diving trips can be sorted in town if you’d like to explore local shipwrecks, and there are plenty of shoreline restaurants for folk who’d rather find sea creatures on their plate. For more natural attractions, walk for half an hour or so to access the hikes and birdwatching in the Capo Gallo Nature Reserve, or drive for 10 minutes to Natural Reserve Cave Conza. Palermo, a 35-minute drive away, is certainly worthy of at least one day trip, and preferably several. The historic palazzos, the gorgeous Palatine Chapel, the baroque churches, the archaeological museum… all should be on the schedule, as should time spent eating one’s way around the street food stalls (Palermo’s often tipped as having some of the world’s finest street food…)
