General

  • Eco-friendly, family-run site on the Liguria-Tuscany border
  • A 10-minute drive from the nearest beach; 15 minutes from Sarzana
  • Outdoor pool with decking area, shared kitchen and open-air shower

Benvenuti to Liguria and to Agricampeggio Ca' Romeo, a family-run site in the sweet spot between the medieval town of Sarzana and the coast. Whether you've plans of bouncing from beach to beach along the Riviera Apuana or want to stay put in quiet rural surroundings, booking a break at this friendly spot is a savvy move indeed.

Agricampeggio Ca' Romeo is set among peaceful countryside, but it's also a short drive from the SS1 motorway. Long-distance travellers stopping here for the night could hardly hope for a prettier place to wake up and, with a bit of luck, can expect to reach Rome or Nice in time for a late lunch – assuming, that is, they don't get side-tracked by the spectacular scenery along the way…

Transcontinental travel opportunities aside, parking yourself here for a longer spell could be an even better bet. Agricampeggio Ca' Romeo has facilities to enhance pretty much all aspects of alfresco living, including an open-air shower if you fancy being drenched to the sound of birdsong and an outdoor pool that pushes all the right buttons.

Hungry stomachs and mediocre meals are a big no-no on Italian holidays, so cook yourself up something good in the communal kitchen (there's a fridge, workspace and a woodfired oven to assist with food prep). The owners also produce farm-pressed extra virgin olive oil and fresh veg and can help organise wine tours to their favourite local vineyards.

Super hosts, very relaxed atmosphere, beautiful scenery, lovely pool and great facilities and common area!! Definitely must-go if you want to relax for a while or have a quick stay-over. Anuschka and her husband JP were very welcoming!
Because of the overall vibe, everyone is relaxed and you can get to know wonderful people if you’re willing! If you want to keep to yourself that’s fine too.

We had a hard time finding the place at first because there is a gate and the sign is very small, maybe add a larger sign , at least with the street number :)

    We absolutely loved the camping!

    Things we liked:
    - intimate camping
    - e-Bikes
    - tips for activities
    - support to do those activities
    - hosts
    - location
    - hospitality
    - surfing school
    - the pool
    - fair prices
    - many more things....

The experience was very intimate, only few other people were there at the same time as we were. Still, we always felt welcome because the hosts Anuschka and Giampi were absolutely lovely. They gave us recomendations on what we could experience and see in the region. Also they helped us to do those things! For example, they gave us a ride with the car to the trainstation, so we could go to visit cinque terre. On another day we rented two E-Bikes, which they provided including locks and helmets. This was also a good activity, because we were able to discover the area with the bikes very nicely and at ease.
The pool is very clean and the shower is provided with worm water. Despite it is outdoor, we could always shower undisturbed.
Since the hosts are locals, they were able to recommend a number of fine restaurants. We enjoyed this very much, as the food in the region is particularly tasty
The location of the campsite is also a highlight. It is close to the mountains for hiking and biking and yet the sea is only 20 minutes away by bike. By the sea there is also the hosts surf school where you can do all the water sports you can think of, depending on the conditions.
Lastly, it is important to say that the price-performance ratio is very well.

Big thanks to Anuschka and Giampi, we really enjoyed the stay!

    Disliked:

That we had to go home at the end of our holiday. which isn't exactly the fault of the camping, but they made it so hard to leave.
There is no WIFI but we don't think it is necessary to have it, since it is a agrocamping. ;)

From the manager...

We loved this place! Amazing location with a very nice view and literally next to vineyards. Plenty of space to hang out, and a common table to meet up with the other visitors and the hosts. They really managed to create an amazing and relaxing atmosphere, where it's really easy to get in touch with each other yet there's still privacy if you want. Lots of things to do in the surrounding area, but we also loved spending a day just at the camp site. It exceeded all our expectations, we prolonged our stay and probably will come back someday too!

Local attractions

Now here's something worth celebrating – motor down to the coast from Agricampeggio Ca' Romeo and you'll have arrived at sandy beaches within 10 minutes. Marinella di Sarzana is the closest seafront town, with a medley of bars and flat sandy spots; the site is also able to book you onto surf, kayak or paddleboarding sessions here.

Inland, take a trip to Sarzana (15 minutes' drive), a local history hub that's well worth visiting for its basilica and two fortresses. Next, hike your way up to Castelnuovo Magra (or drive there in about five minutes), a handsome hilltop town surrounded by a scenic network of paths and cycle trails (Nordic walking poles or mountain bikes can be hired in the centre).

Carrara (30 minutes), a place whose name is known the world over for the top-quality marble mined in its hills, also deserves to be on the itinerary: you'll most likely want to stop off at the Castello Malaspina to admire the views before heading for a tour around the museums that showcase the city's finest export.
