  • Surrounded by the Beaujolais vineyards close to the village of Fleurie
  • A half-hour drive to Mâcon; 50 minutes to Lyon
  • Covered heated pool, tennis court, bakery and activities on site
If you’re planning to make wine tourism a prominent feature of your Beaujolais break, where better to stay than right there among the vines? Rhône-Alpes site Camping La Grappe Fleurie is right in the middle of wine country, with vineyards all around providing the views as well as the wine-tasting opportunities. This well-equipped site is 10 minutes’ walk from the village of Fleurie, and it makes an excellent base for getting out and about into wine country. But that’s not all this spot has going for it – from here you can also plan days out canoeing along the Rhône, strolling around the pretty Pierres Dorées villages or exploring the many attractions (and restaurants) of Lyon. When you’re not out touring the area, there’s plenty to keep you busy on site – a heated, covered pool is here for swims in all weathers, and there’s a pétanque/tennis court and a playground if the family need a little more activity. Or you could hang around and wait for action to come to you: the Grappe Fleurie team arranges lots of activities for all ages such as a kids' club, parties, concerts, karaoke, wine tasting, shows and heaps more. Camping La Grappe Fleurie has a bakery and snack bar open in peak season, plus a launderette and a food shop. There are a couple of places to eat and shop in the village, and bike hire is available on site.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked: Lovely site and facilities. Large enough pitch even for a double axle, secluded and quiet. Lots of activities on and off site and pool was great. Marie, Stephane and staff do work hard to make your stay enjoyable. We particularly liked the Thursday night market in Fleurie and of course the local red wine.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked: A very friendly, really well run site where the proprietors have clearly given thought to the needs of touring campers, motorhome and caravan owners. The standard of maintenance was very high and the facilities were very clean and well kept. Road corners on site were generous, making turns with our caravan comfortable. The service to deliver a meal to your pitch (at a good price) was in our experience, unique and a really nice touch. The region is beautiful for wine connoisseurs and walkers alike.

Disliked: The camping pitches were a bit tight (ours was 8m between the hedges), which made fitting a large caravan, an awning and a car on the pitch a challenge as well as giving a slightly claustrophobic feeling when neighboring pitches are occupied.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked: The facilities were ok.

Disliked: In the night we were there music was playing in the area above the campsite until 2:30 am. This made a mockery of the noise curfew on site and kept us up most of the night. We then cancelled our second visit to this site . Refund is not available due to site rules. I would not say this is a 4 star site and at best 3 star but perhaps not at the price you pay for staying there

Local attractions

Set out by foot, bike or hoof from Camping La Grappe Fleurie into the area of Fleurie vineyards, the Beaujolais Verts and the Saône Valley, all known for their spectacular scenery, biking, hiking and horse riding, and – but naturally – the tasting of their wines. The 140-kilometre Beaujolais Wine Route is nearby for true enthusiasts, but the team on site are happy to offer advice if you’d rather just dip into a few wineries. Away from the vineyards you may like to explore the history-filled streets of Mâcon (half an hour’s drive) or stroll around some of the gorgeous Pierres Dorées villages like Châtillon (45 minutes) and Ternand (55 minutes), where the limestone buildings take on a golden hue in the sunlight. Lyon (50 minutes) is worth a visit too for its museums, renaissance buildings and foodie scene. It’s not all about the grownups around here though – if you’ve brought the kids, try days out at Touroparc Zoo (10 minutes), climbing through the trees at Aventures Concept (15 minutes) or paddling a canoe hired from Saône Plage (10 minutes).
