This, declares the Camping La Digue team, is a place where you can follow your fancies. And how: this peaceful and friendly riverside site is within easy reach of outdoor activities of all flavours – whichever you pick, the knowledgeable team can not only point you in the right direction, but also book many right on site. First of all, you should probably head off for a day of hiking. (Or walking, if you're more of an ambler than a striding-forth sort.) Then, the adventurously inclined can go off clambering along hundreds of local climbing routes, or set off canyoning along the Chassesac gorges, or test their mettle on the via ferrata of the Pont du Diable. Your base to stagger back to after all these outdoorsy days is in splendid surrounds on the banks of the Ardèche, a few minutes' drive from Chauzon between Aubenas and Ruoms. Facilities and amenities are of tiptop quality (have a look at the pics, s'il vous plait) and include a pool, a pétanque court, a TV room and a tennis court. Fishing is available in the river waters straight from the grounds, walking and cycling paths start from the site, and you can hire a canoe to drift along the water. Et les enfants? They have a kids' club and a spacious play area to keep them entertained. More scenic setting and amiable atmosphere is at the site restaurant, which serves breakfast and dinner, and at the bar and snack bar for drinks and light bites.

Liked: Pitches shaded under trees, nice pool and bar/resturant. Friendly staff. All in all very good value for money. Recommended - Thank You ! NB electric hookup is reverse polarity - not a problem I have an adapter 😊

Liked: Veel animatie voor jong en oud, lekker eten, heerlijke coctails, enorm vriendelijk personeel, goede samenwerking met sportieve buitenshuize activiteiten, kleine maar gezellige camping, warm onthaal, elke ochtend vers stokbrood, proper zwembad. We komen zeker terug!

Disliked: Relatief weinig privacy op de kampeerplaatsen. (Open plekken waar geen of weinig afscheiding/haag is) Verder geen opmerkingen!

Liked: Loved the campsite, good size pitches and friendly staff. Food at the restaurant was lovely and not too expensive. We rented Kayaks from the campsite and were picked up by minibus. The Kayaking is a must do- great fun. Short walk down from the site to the river however it is only deep enough for paddling, not really swimming - there are plenty of other perfect spots for swimming in with up or down the river though.

Disliked: Unisex toilet/shower block- I would prefer males and females to be separate. The on-site shop only had short opening hours.

Disliked: Le fait qu'il n'y ai pas de navette de bus pour se déplacer dans les villages alentours. Ayant un camping car, nous n'avions pas de moyens de transport pour nous déplacer.

From the manager: Bonjoue et merci pour ce patrtage Effectivement nous sommes situé au coeur de 7 hectares de nature loin de toute nuisance sonores en bordure de l Ardeche au pied d'un petit village de 350 habitants. mais à proximité de nombreux sites toursitiques Ce qui peut expliquer que la region ou le departement n'aient pas investi dans une ligne de bus ou navette. Pour le wifi cette année celui-ci est desormais gratuit pour l'ensemble du camping et est diffusé par satelites via stalink Cordialement Fabienne

Local attractions

Climbers rejoice: you and your heady sense of adventure can indulge in the many routes around the Cirque de Gens, the famed – and spectacularly scenic limestone rock formation that makes up one of the biggest climbing sites in the Ardèche. Ask the Digue team for their recommendations on the best crags to clamber, or book a guided climbing trip via the site team. The Gens have around 300 routes of all levels for you to pick from; nearby, more climbing can be accessed at Viel d'Audon and at Balazuc. If you're feeling fully brave (and have a head for heights), the nearby via ferrata of the Pont du Diable will provide a hair-raising adventure you'll remember until you're old and grey: you should certainly boast about it for years to come. Walking and cycling trails leave from the site and several more walking trails are within easy reach. Quiz the team at reception for top tips on the best routes, or seek info on nearby treetop adventuring, caving, canoeing, and canyoning in the gorges of Chassesac. Vallon-Pont-d'Arc, the departure point for canoeing and kayaking trips into the Gorges de l'Ardèche, is just under half an hour's drive from the site.
