  • Family-run site near Ramatuelle on the St Tropez peninsula
  • Pampelonne beach five minutes’ drive; Saint-Tropez 10 minutes
  • Shaded pitches; barbecues allowed; nearby vineyards with tastings
You too can embrace the relaxed Provençal lifestyle – think leisurely lunches in the shade of pine trees, with a glass of locally produced wine in hand – at Les Pins Pitchouns, a family-run property surrounded by vineyards. This peaceful spot sits between the hilltop village of Ramatuelle and the beach of Pampelonne (both five minutes’ drive), on the St Tropez peninsula. What will you do first? There are several wine estates within a 10-minute drive of the site, and they offer experiences ranging from guided visits of the winemaking facilities and guided tastings to dinners and picnics with views of the vineyards. If you’re into hiking, you might want to explore the trail at Cap Camarat (10 minutes' drive), a rugged headland covered in pine trees and juniper shrubs and topped by a 19th-century lighthouse. In addition to far-reaching views over the Mediterranean Sea, here you might catch glimpses of the local wildlife (lizards, small tortoises and peregrine falcons). And of course… there are beaches. And they’re pretty spectacular, too, from the sheltered stretch at Plage de l’Escalet (five minutes), via Plage de la Quessine (10 minutes), all pebbles and cliffs, to the sandy crescents of Plage de Tahiti (15 minutes) and Pampelonne, with several outfits hiring pedal boats, canoes and paddleboards. And you can catch the sunset at Plage de Gigaro (20 minutes). There’s a toilet and shower block on site, and guests are welcome to light up the barbecue of an evening. For provisions, there’s a small supermarket less than five minutes’ drive away (or a 15-minute walk), plus more options in Ramatuelle, which also has several French and Italian restaurants with alfresco tables.

Local attractions

A magnet for the rich and the famous, Saint-Tropez (10 minutes’ drive) is dominated by a fortified 17th-century citadel that now houses the Museum of Maritime History. Have a bite to eat (and check out the millionaires’ yachts) at one of the restaurants lining the marina, then head to one of the city beaches for a dip. Amusement parks in the area include Azur Park (10 minutes), with high-octane rides like the terrifying Ejection Seat, shot from a giant catapult, and more sedate attractions for younger children; and Aqualand Sainte-Maxime (35 minutes), with multiple pools and water slides. Goats, buffalo and colourful birds are among the residents of ZooParc Du Cannet Des Maures (50 minutes), where children can go on pony rides or become zookeepers for the day, helping to feed and look after the animals.

Power optional mixed campsite (three person, two person)

Liked: Amazing location😊😍 not far away from Saint Tropez💪very friendly and helpful staff, Peter and one lady were amazing and such a lovely people. Pitches are located in very nice areas also you can rent caravan there you also have sinks, shower toilets available and it was very clean. Around the corner there is beautiful local beach with lots of paid parking spaces. On the beach you can book kayaking trip or even rent it😊 there is some private beaches where you can rent a chair for all day.

Disliked: Mosquitos and small black flies so without cream or spray you should stay at home as I haven't bought it before trip and I was bitten even on my eyelids 🤣
