  • Spacious and friendly Dutch-owned site on the banks of the River Lot
  • A 10-minute drive to Puy-l’Évêque and close to Cahors region wineries
  • Outdoor pool and restaurant on site; summer activities for all ages
In the Lot, and indeed by the Lot… Camping Le Ch'timi is an attractive and welcoming site right on the banks of the mighty river that gives its name to this fabulous area. Spacious and designed with the layout of a traditional estate in mind, this family-friendly site just outside Touzac makes an excellent base for days spent relaxing by the river or touring the area’s numerous attractions and activities. Arriving at reception gives you a small glimpse of the things you might fill your days with while you’re here – it’s stocked with walking and cycling maps along with brochures for nearby castles, wineries, museums, boat trips, caves, family attractions… The vibe of this site depends on the season. In spring and autumn it’s a quiet place that’s well suited to walkers, cyclists and anglers (who can fish from two large fishing holes a couple of minutes’ walk away). Come the summer months, the Dutch owners ramp up the activity to create a lively and sociable atmosphere for family holidays – there are kids’ club activities in the morning and campfire or live music evenings, plus various daytime antics from treasure hunts to water polo tournaments. No doubt you’ll also want to leave a bit of time for the site’s swimming pool, which also has a paddling pool (open in the main summer holidays) and plenty of loungers for sunbathing, snoozing and supervising splashing kids. To fuel all this activity, you can order fresh bread deliveries for breakfast, grab takeaways from the snack bar or settle in for a home-cooked meal at the restaurant, which serves up pizzas and Dutch or French dishes inside or out on the terrace.

Local attractions

There’s plenty of choice when it comes to outdoor activities around here – have a chat with the team on site and they’ll point you towards golf, horse riding, canoe hire, swimming lakes, hang gliding… whatever you fancy, really. There are some fabulous walking and bike trails nearby too – and the interest doesn’t stop at sunset because you may be able to book in to learn about the night sky at Observatoire Astronomique GAP47 (15 minutes’ drive). The area’s heritage is all there to explore, too, with strolls around lovely villages like Puy-l’Évêque (10 minutes) and Tournon-d’Agenais (20 minutes) or visits to châteaux including Fumel (10 minutes) and Bonaguil (15 minutes). Another major part of the area’s character is of course its wineries – you’ll be within the Cahors wine region here, so there are numerous vineyards and wineries to visit nearby, several of them housed in grand châteaux. Cahors itself is about 45 minutes’ drive away.
