  • Peaceful glamping site in woodland 8km from medieval Puy L'Evêque
  • Lots of vineyards locally to visit by bike, on horseback or on foot
  • Guest kitchen and barbecues, plus homemade breakfast served on site
Foodies and wine buffs, get set for a grand feast. On the menu as you wend your way through the Lot Valley are all manner of delish treats – goat’s cheese, foie gras, ceps, confit duck, walnut cake… and all washed down with some splendid wines from the Cahors vineyards. Working up an appetite is pretty easy around here, too – perhaps a canoe trip, or a day out pottering through the vineyards on foot, by bike or on horseback, or poking about the medieval towns and châteaux in the locale. Rural glamping site Domaine des Calosses, 10 minutes from Puy L’Evêque, is a super place to rest your head between bouts of activity and/or eating. Spacious, comfy yurts are surrounded by peaceful woodlands, blissfully far from noise and light pollution. There’s no electricity or water in the yurts, but you’ll be provided with a lamp and there are a couple of dry toilets as well as indoor bathrooms with showers and sinks. You’ll not even have to trot too far to commence your noshing for the day, as tasty homemade brekkie is served every day either in the breakfast room or on a shaded terrace in summer. If you fancy cooking up your own meals (perchance after a successful market forage) there’s a communal kitchen and barbecue area for your cheffing.

Local attractions

Gorgeous medieval Puy L’Evêque is one of those places you can lose hours in simply pottering around the ancient streets and courtyards; make sure to climb the hill for the best views over the town. For further historic strolls, take the 25-minute drive to Château de Bonaguil or venture a little further to Château de Biron, 45 minutes away. Active types may fancy taking a canoe or kayak trip on the Lot river from Puy L’Evêque, saddling up for a horseback trek through the Lot Valley from the stables 10 minutes away, or tackling the treetop adventure courses at Parc en Ciel, 40 minutes away.
