- Well-equipped family-friendly site a 20-minute drive from Auch
- Flaran Abbey 45 minutes’ drive; Toulouse 55 minutes
- Pools, fitness centre and sports courts; fishing lake; play area
Surrounded by a gentle landscape of hills and farmland dotted with tree copses, sunflower fields and small villages, peaceful Domaine Aramis is a 20-minute drive from the town of Auch, the capital of the Gers department of south western France.
The site is so well equipped that it ought to keep everybody happy during their holiday, regardless of their age or interests. Active types can practise their backhand on the tennis court, challenge fellow guests to a game of beach volleyball, or schedule in their legs/arms/abs day at the fitness centre. Want to take it down a notch? Ease yourself into a game of pétanque, or switch off from all other concerns with a spot of meditative angling at the fishing lake.
Meanwhile, younger guests can make new friends at the kids’ club or in the playground, or tire themselves out by climbing up to the top of the waterslides in the pool area and splashing in the water – on repeat. You can keep an eye on their activities from the poolside sun loungers, as you sip a perfectly mixed cocktail from the on-site Tiki Bar.
And don’t think for a moment that bad weather stops play here: with a heated indoor pool, a games room and a wellness area where you can book a soothing massage, there’s plenty to do, come rain or shine.
A food shop stocks basic necessities (there’s also a convenience store in the nearby village of Marsan, a 15-minute walk away), or you can acquaint yourself with local gastronomy at the on-site restaurant. Aramis also has a toilet and shower block, a launderette and a washing-up area.

Local attractions
In addition to thrill rides, a splash park and assorted tree-based attractions, Animaparc (45 minutes’ drive) also has a petting farm and the Dinosaur Forest, with lifesize prehistoric beasts and informative panels for kids (and adults) who want to learn more about these creatures.
With its peaceful riverside gardens, Flaran Abbey (45 minutes) was built by Cistercian monks in the 12th century and subsequently modified. The dormitory cells now house a collection of European art, while other monastic buildings are used for temporary exhibitions ranging from photography to archaeology.
Stretching along the banks of the Garonne river, Toulouse (55 minutes) is a historic city known for the elegant, ornate tower of the medieval Basilique Saint-Sernin, the expansive Place du Capitole square, lined with cafés and restaurants, and a leafy Japanese Garden. On the outskirts of town is the Cité de l’espace museum, with replica spacecraft and a planetarium.
