It's free, quick and easy!
- Friendly and peaceful farm site surrounded by countryside
- Fishing, boating and feeding farm animals all available
- Pool, paddling pool, summer bar, playground and toddlers' playroom
Free, gratis, zero and zilch... that's the cost of summer family activities at the fab farm site of Camping Ferme de Prunay, just outside Seillac in the green countryside of the Loir-et-Cher.
And these just aren't any old activities either... For the team at Ferme de Prunay are rather more imaginative than that, taking things a tad further than the usual holiday park offerings to make up a heady mixture of family events including tractor rides, breadmaking sessions, feeding the farm animals and countryside hikes with the farm dogs and donkeys. You can join in with campfire sessions on site too, so if you're not a native, do make sure you know le français for le marshmallows...
In among all that or outside of July and August, Ferme de Prunay's setting means there's stacks to do for all ages, on land and on water. It's close to woods for peaceful wanders, and has a big pond for fishing and boating; loads of fab days out are nearby, such as to the châteaux at Chaumont-sur-Loire, Chambord, Cheverny or Chenonceau, and it's under an hour from here to the famed and fab ZooParc de Beauval if your littlies crave yet more conversing with critters.
And there's yet more... This friendly farm park also has a pool and a paddling pool, a playground and a TV room, as well as an indoor room crammed with toys for babies and toddlers. There's plenty of space by the pool to sunbathe at, and aeons of room around the farm and among the sunflowers to run around in... or you could go for a walk around the meadows, or hire a bike to pedal off into this scenic and serene countryside.
Eats are easily covered too (apart from the bread your enfants will lovingly make for you in summer), as the farm restaurant serves tasty treats including pizza and steaks, and a snack bar opens in high season. Barbecues are allowed: bag barbie or picnic bits and pieces at the tiptop deli in town.

Local attractions
One really could spend the whole hol here right on site, mooching around the farm, boating on the pond or kneading one's dough to just the right consistency to ensure rising bread. But quite a few options are nearby if you do decide to venture off exploring, whether you're looking for Loire Valley castles, yet more family fun, or famed and swish attractions like the ZooParc de Beauval.
Even reluctant historians should excitedly enjoy a day or two around one of the first-rate châteaux in the area, such as spectacular Château de Chaumont (15 minutes' drive), the 10th-century castle with extensive gardens and the famed Festival des Jardins held every year. Within 40 minutes' drive, there's also splendid Château de Chambord, the biggest in the Loire Valley; Château de Cheverny, the inspiration for Château de Moulinsart in the Tintin books, and Château de Chenonceau, a beaut castle spanning the Cher river.
A former residence of Leonardo da Vinci, Château du Clos Lucé is 30 minutes' drive away at Amboise.
