- Summer food truck serving crepes and savoury dishes
Coastal and countryside Brittany hiking… what a brill idea.
Trails of all sorts, from easy ambles in green surrounds to energetic excursions along the northern French shore, are a snap to sort from the Côtes-d'Armor's Camping Le Domaine Des Jonquilles, three kilometres from the beaches of Le Val-André and the harbour of Dahouët.
Several walking trails are around the site's local village of Saint-Alban, some of which form part of the ancient Tro Breizh Catholic pilgrimage route. A drive of under 20 kilometres will take you to hikes around the coastal areas of Cap d'Erquy and Cap Fréhel, along with watersports such as sailing, sea fishing and windsurfing. The Emerald Coast is about 10 kilometres away; further on along the coast, you can get to Dinard, Saint-Malo and oyster capital Cancale for Brittany day trips.
The kids should be chuffed with the playground on site, made up of a spacious sandy enclosure with swings, slide and climbing. The pétanque court, TV room and games room (and free wifi) should keep them occupied too, or they (and you) could also spend watery days in the heated outdoor pool.
A food truck serving crepes and savoury dishes is on site in high season, along with a small grocery shop and bread delivery service.

Local attractions
This lovely land has walks all around, whether you want to stay close to home and take a countryside stroll from the village, or drive to the coastal areas of Cap d'Erquy and Cap Fréhel, 15 and 17 kilometres away. Another worthwhile wander is around scenic Dahouët harbour, three kilometres away.
Head to the coastal heathland area and trails of Cap d'Erquy, 10 kilometres away, for more spectacular walks along the GR 34 coastal way, and from there go on to Cap Fréhel for cliff climbs, hikes and Les Grèves-d’En Bas windsurfing. The colourful moorland around here is a top birdwatching (and painting) spot, where 700 or so pairs of seabirds nest in the rocks and islands alongside the cape.
The nearest beach to the site is at Le Val-André, also three kilometres away and separated from Dahouët by the Pointe de la Guette headland. There's a handsome long beach here, accompanied by several 19th-century villas from when the area became popular with moneyed sorts in Victorian times.
If you'd rather have a dip of a different sort, Le Val-André has a spa centre with thalassotherapy treatments to sink into too.
